This is a fun CD, more for kids than adults. It has loads of authentic sound effects from a pirate ship and pirates cavorting in the background set to music. However these are nice pirates, not the mean and nasty sort. They seem to look out for each other and give free advice to a new pirate. A few of the songs are memorable and fun for adults too.

The only thing I didn't like was the sudden change from authentic sounding period instruments, to the next song having an electric guitar. It was a little jolting. If I had read the editorial review closer I would have seen the words "Rock band" so I don't blame the musicians. It was worth the price.

I have four boys ages 1, 4, 7, and 12, and they *all* love this CD. The adults love it too, and after having it for a month and playing it pretty often, we like it more than ever.

The songs range from a lovely environmental ballad about the manatee to a rolicking Monty Python-esque song called Scurvy that never fails to get us up dancing.

A quality that I really appreciate as a parent, is the emphasis on the camaraderie among the pirates, the kindness they show for each other. The amazing thing is that, this is all done without an ounce of sappiness!

To sum up, every song on this CD is fantastic, it's definately a must have for any child even remotely interested in pirates!

This is one fun CD and a great band. I have to admit that I bought this CD for myself after catching the band play live. After my son was born, I started playing it for him and was not surprised to see that he loves it too. Now that he is over a year old, he is dancing to it and it won't be long before the singing starts. The album is well crafted and takes you on a journey with stories and music. As you listen, it's not hard to imagine yourself on the deck of a pirate ship with the wind in your hair and surrounded by your loyal crewmates. Most children's CDs drive me mad, especially after repeated playing. This one gets better and better every time I hear it and that is a good thing since it gets played every single day. Har!

For my son's 5th birthday party he chose a Pirate theme. I looked high and low for some great music to play. I found a sample track of "Scurvy" and laughed out loud! Needless to say, I bought the CD instantly. The entire CD proved to be a great hit at the party and is still being played a year and 1/2 later.

Pirates. Pirate stories. Pirate songs. Just plain pirate fun! Captain Bogg and Salty's CD is well produced and beautifully written. It is fun through and through. Each listening gets better and better. Buy this CD you won't regret it for a moment! Children, adults, and pirates of all ages will find a favorite song (if not all of them). For the best song to turn a bad day to a good day listen to and sing along with "Scurvy". This song puts it all into perspective. Oh, just go buy the CD!

Yaardy har har! This is the album that my boyhood yearned for! I've always dreamed of being a pirate and at last my sea faring dreams have come true! This swashbuckling adventure is essentially a "how to" manual for young pirates. It begins with a rousing "Welcome aboard!" then we are introduced to a motley crew by way of rowdy shanties and melodic reels. After a few hilarious tips on how to survive on the open sea we are put to bed below decks to a scary bedtime story and a heavenly lullaby. Finally, we receive a mighty YO HO HO! as we have proved ourselves worthy to sail aboard The Pollywogg under Captain Angus Bogg! This is truly an inspired album! If you have ever hoped for adventure or dreamed of far off lands, this CD is for you! Climb aboard and set sail. You won't regret it. P.S. It's a perfect companion to Disney's Pirates of the Carribean!

Captain Bogg & Salty's Bedtime Stories for Pirates is one of the best children's CD's I've ever heard. Thanks to the masterful skill of Kevin Hendrickson and Loren Hoskins, once you push play you're instantly whisked away into a world of buccaneers, camaraderie and adventure. The songs are all charismatic, whether they be rowdy pirate stompers such as "Scurvy" or sweet tender tunes such as "Manatee". The best cut on the album, by far is "Weather Eye", in my opinion. In summary, you can't go wrong with this CD, if you've got wee swashbucklers or not.

I found this album to be as enjoyable for adults as it is for children. It's just a fun album. My son and I have memorized "Scurvey" and he enjoys singing it on his way to school. I find myself singing it around the office as well. A great album, with really wonderful, inspired music. I would love to see more work by Captain Bogg and Salty; books, a movie, more CDs. Terrific.

I've yet to meet a young buccaneer who hasn't been captivated by this delightful album. The quality and variety of the songs holds up to repeated play and it's packed full of useful advice -- such as how to avoid scurvy!

All the children (and a few adults) in my family are receiving this cd for Christmas!

A fantastic musical romp in becoming a pirate and a positive, helpful, caring human being. These are not blatant, saccharine lessons taught from robotic children and dinosaurs, but through the voices of thoughtful pirates. Captain Angus Bogg and the new recruit Salty, (who could be you if you imagined just a bit), has something for everyone and is great fun for all ages. Like Bullwinkle and Rocky they can be enjoyed on different levels. I found the images brought to my mind so numerous, striking, and clear, that I decided to paint them and have a show! A great bunch of pirates, see them live if you have the chance! Yaaaaarrrrr!
