Rupert lives up to the Gregson-Williams name, July 6, 2009
When I saw this album was by Rupert Gregson-Williams, I wasn't impressed. However, After listening to the provided clips and reading a review, I downloaded it. I was in for a very pleasant surprise.
'Bedtime Stories' is one of those albums that you get a lot of listening enjoyment out of. the first track, 'The Sunny Vista Motel' sets the mood of the film and introduces you to the main theme for 'Bedtime Stories'. Rupert makes his music fit with the adventure in the movie extremely well. 'The Tale of Sir Fixalot' does a wonderful job of recreating a medieval sound. Likewise, 'The Wild West Adventure' has that western feel- you can tell just by hearing it.
However, my favorite tracks were the ones that included the 'Bedtime Stories' theme - particularly tracks 1, 6, 8, and 14. The theme captures the emotion of the movie perfectly. Tracks 2 & 3 are also outstanding. At about 35 minutes, it is short, but EVERY track is fun and easily likable (with a possible exception to track 11). To repeat the review I read, 'With a few more scores like this, Rupert won't be known as "Harry's brother" for very long.' Way to go, Rupert!
