Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Gr. 2-4. The first thing children will notice about this entry in the Animal Close-Ups series is the photos. Bees, bees, honeybees everywhere, enlarged to the size of a small child's fist so their lacy wings and fuzzy bodies are clearly visible, flying through the air by the thousands as they look for a new place to build a hive. The text, smoothly translated from the French, follows honeybees from the flower into the hive, describing how the insects take pollen, make honey, build a hive, replenish their population, and begin a new colony. The photos are captioned, although more details would have made the references clearer, as would a diagram or two. That said, there's great information here, clearly and interestingly presented. Report writers as well as curious kids will come away with new respect for those winged things that buzzzzz. Stephanie Zvirin

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book!, November 28, 2011
This review is from: Going Lobstering (Board book)
This is a fun kids' book loaded with great pictures. If you enjoy outdoor activities with your kids, this is a good book for your collection. It accurately shows all the details of lobstering. It shows what traps and buoys look like and all the critters that you catch in a trap. This book gives a great context for your kids if you live near the coast and see buoys for lobster traps in the water.
