This review is from: Bee Propolis: Natural Healing from the Hive (Nature's Remedies S.) (Paperback)
Just came back from a day of working in the bee yard on Plan Bee. [...]

It is about 100 degrees but the bees seem to love it. I digress....

As a second year beekeeper, the more I know about bees, the more I want to learn about bees. By now we have had our second honey harvest but there is MUCH more we can get from the hive. Propolis, a word supposedly coined by Aristotle meaning Pro - Before Polis - The city is another bee product.

Bees use it protect their hive and make it more environmentally friendly. I wanted to learn more about this miracle bee product that has pharmacy companies abuzz.. Just into the book a few pages but loving the style of the writer and all of the great new information. I am dropping my other reads and focusing on this one.

Hope to see you by the hive. Dave aka, The Bee Boy out!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Bee Propolis-another reason to care for honey bees, May 27, 2011
This review is from: Bee Propolis: Natural Healing from the Hive (Nature's Remedies S.) (Paperback)
This book is very informative about the healing properties of propolis. I had heard a podcast interview with James Fearnley. The host was top bar hive builder and enthusiast Phil Chandler, so I knew the direction the book would take, but I wanted something to refer back to again and again. I've bought several of these books so I can share this information with other beekeepers who might regard propolis as more of a nuisance. I am fascinated with the idea that bees will collect the immunity properties of trees and flowers and 'process' this substance with their own enzymes which we can use as a sort of broad spectrum 'medicine'.
