Customer Questions & Answers

Customer Reviews

I decided to try gelatin and coconut oil, which is also good for the gut.
Mari S.
It's made exactly like hot cocoa (heat water to boiling, add cocoa mix, add honey or coconut sugar) with one final addition of a spoonful of gelatin powder.
Karen Emmons
It tasted, looked and acted just like the storebought kind that I remember as a child.

First I want to say that this company is fast ordered the gelatin Mar 12 2012, received it Mar 14 2012

Gelatin benefits

I used to use Knox Gelatin which now costs about $12 and you only get a box with 32 small packets in it. But buying it this way is a way better deal and you get a hell of a lot more in the long run. Benefits of eating gelatin are it definately makes your fingernails and hair grow faster and stronger, helps with weight loss, also helps to keep one regular especially those who have had problems with constipation due to diet changes or for other reasons. Some say it also reduces cellulite

Making jello

Some will tell you to disolve it in cold water I strongly advise you not to because if done it is really gross resembling lumpy glue. Use hot tap water, or water or fruit juice heated on a stove that works perfectly then add cold juice. I use fruit juice and do not even need to use sugar and best of all it is all natural. I make mine in a container so I use about a cup of gelatin to make a total of 6 cups of jello. It tastes good it isn't clear and has a very pale almost yellowish color a couple of reviewers of this same product sold by other companys were unhappy about that but that does not affect it, and I personally do not care the juice colors it anyway

Flavor and flavor combinations

If you like these juices and combinations this is what I do I mix equal parts of orange, mango, apple, and pineapple.

Several years ago I was diagnosed with IBS and was beginning to think I had leaky gut syndrome or some malabsorption problem. The gastro doc's only suggestion was Citrucel (which didn't help much). However after reading an article entitled: "Could This Natural Remedy Work even Better than Prescription Medications?" I decided to try gelatin and coconut oil, which is also good for the gut. I soften about 1 T. gelatin in a few tablespoons of cool water--it's called "letting it bloom" for a few minutes. Then add it to any hot liquid--coffee, tea, lemon juice and hot water, soup, etc. along with a teaspoon or two of refined coconut oil which has no flavor at all. I do this once or twice a day--and it has helped tremendously. A quote from the article: "Gelatin is reported to seal and heal any damage it finds by lining the gastrointestinal tract and nourishing the rapidly growing mucous membranes. Numerous sources claim that ingesting gelatin also helps to prevent wrinkles, improve joint function and maintain beautiful hair." The book, Nourishing Traditions suggests adding gelatin to canned broths to increase nutrition similar to that of homemade broths.

After reading about the benefits of the complete amino acid profile of supplemental gelatin, I started for my own thumbs... and my sixteen year old cat.

This is a consistent, high quality gelatin that James Bond did not mind having mixed into his food.

One month later, and he's jumping from the bureau to the bed, like he used to! And my thumbs feel much better.

Keep in mind we both went grain-free, which also led to great improvement. Many people find grains, especially wheat, aggravate arthritis. But since collagen has been shown to regrow cartilage, I figure this is an excellent addition to our program.

This is such a good price, compared to the Great Lakes Gelatin, so I called Now Foods to inquire about the beef source. They are from conventionally grown cattle, which are raised with feed containing hormones and antibiotics. So, if you really care about your health, you should look into the Great lakes brand, which costs more, but are from grass-fed cattle.

I used Knox for a few days and could tell that it contained hormones, because my breasts became tender again and also, the skin on my face became scaly. Switched to Great Lakes and the tenderness went away. My skin looks better on the GL brand, too.

My wife and I both use this product. She for years and me for several months. About two teaspoons in eight oz. water daily with a little juice to enhance the taste. The pain in her ( hands ) joints quit after about four to five months. All of our body hair grows faster and so does our fingernails. We are elderly so if it helps us I hope it will help you. Good luck.

This gelatin is great, just like all the other NOW products I've bought in the past. In the winter I like to drink a mug of hot cocoa at night. Now that the weather heating up, I switched to cocoa jello for a cold and easy dessert that costs pennies. It's made exactly like hot cocoa (heat water to boiling, add cocoa mix, add honey or coconut sugar) with one final addition of a spoonful of gelatin powder. Mix it well, refrigerate it overnight and you've got cocoa jello! I recently tried substituting a can of coconut milk or the water, and OMG it was sinfully delicious. To make it less rich, use chocolate Almond Breeze. To make it healthier, use cacao instead of Swiss Miss cocoa mix (although you will need more sweetener). Or try making your own coconut milk with organic shredded coconut. Top it with a spritz of whipped cream and it's good enough for guests!

I don't know what it is about this gelatin, but it's very filling, so it could be a dieting aid if you're trying to keep an eye on the scale. Instead of eating ice cream at night, I eat my cocoa jello and am satisfied. But don't stop there. Buy organic juice and make healthy jello without food dyes and unpronounceable ingredients. A 1 pound bag lasts a long time, so you can go crazy experimenting. I originally bought this gelatin for the health benefits I read about (healthy skin, nails and hair among many other things), but I'm addicted to it because of the delicious and easy-to-make jello it makes.
