5.0 out of 5 stars my SA, March 22, 2009
This review is from: Been There Smoked That (Audio CD)
The good deeds we do in life are nothing but a result of our own selfish actions. In the end people are just looking out for themselves. Some examples of this would be holding as simple as holding the door open, I feel you wouldn't do it unless it made you happy after. When people do volunteer work I feel they don't even do it for others, I think they do it to give themselves piece of mind at the end of the day. I think that even when we go to church we are just looking after are self's. People are a shellfish life form and will always be that way.
When we hold doors open for others why are we really doing it? It seems to me that we are just doing to make our self's happy. If it makes you happy to see others happy then it is selfish to only hold the door open for that reason. I am guilty of it myself. I have held the door open many times for people just too selfishly make me happy after the whole matter. Sure it may be seem to be self to let somebody in the door before you, but honestly feel people would not do it unless it made them happy. Every way you look at the situation it will turn out into nothing but a selfish act.
Volunteering might just look like the most selfless thing you can do for people. You work for other asking for no money in return. But look down at the dynamics. You do these things for yourself. You do these things to make yourself happy. You're doing things for other without asking for anything physical. But deep down I think we do it for ourselves, to make ourselves feel better about ourselves. I think that is bottom line selfish. A lot of the time people don't even hide the selfishness. Like when you do volunteer work because you have to. Like when I made my conformation I had to do 20 hours of volunteer work. Why did I do it, I did it to further myself in something I wanted to do. Not really to fully help others. It was believe it or not an act of selfishness. I think people do this every day and don't even realize it. They like to think they are doing it for others.
Going to church is my biggest example of people being selfish. I feel that people only go to church to be right with god. I can't see any other reason you would go. Being right with god is just a way of looking out for you. It you dint care about where you go after you death then why would you go to church. Going to church is just a selfish act that involves looking out for you. Though going to church may not be a bad thing, in my mind the whole act of going is still a shellfish one. When you are go you are being selfish bye not thinking of others and just going to better your life with god.
Threw the examples given I have expressed why good actions are just some examples of why everyone's good deeds are routed in selfishness. Though some of the deeds aren't life changing or worth going to jail for they are still shellfish. We do them everyday weather we realize it or not. I'm not saying man should be condemned for the act, I just feel it is a way of human nature we all live with. When we open a door, be a volunteer, or even going to church. The good deeds we do in life are nothing but a result of our own selfish actions

5.0 out of 5 stars Just great bouncey, punk-tinged pop rock., February 18, 2003
This review is from: Been There Smoked That (Audio CD)
This compilation shows the promising beginnings of the punk-tinged, pop rock outfit currently known as Hot Rod Circuit. All HRC albums come with heavy riffs (as heavy as one of the bands they cover--AC DC) and actual sing-along melodies that will crawl into your subconscious only to be processed and emerge from you in shower-karaoke form. This album will prove to be no exception. Their debut EP, several tracks from their Antidote days, their live acoustic performances, and the covers at the end all measure up well to the HRC style you can hear in "Sorry About Tomorrow."

The only thing that gets me is the weird-to-lame artwork. It's much less psychadelic than it is just ugly and a distraction. But I don't care too much (would've been nice to see some band photos, etc.).

If you own any other HRC album, then you must own this--so get on it. Otherwise for everybody else, buy it before the world ends...
