From Library Journal
A relatively unique guide that will appeal to United Kingdom travelers who enjoy friendly, casual accommodations, and British beer! Individual data not only includes the basics about available rooms, prices, locations, and telephone numbers, but also concisely conveys the look and feel of each place. Protz also recommends specialty dishes when appropriate and often relates a little of the dishes' histories. He offers realistic advice on possible problems, making complaints, and costs, and lists ales that should be sampled. Despite the large-scale maps, which are of limited use, and the lack of an index, entries are organized by area and not difficult to find. The amiable writing and precise information will appeal to brew devotees and those looking for economical accommodations and authentic, interesting travel experiences. A good value for most travel collections.
