I have been an avid Beersmith user for many years now. Once you set yourself up in the software (equipment that you plan to use) the tools and calculators for each recipe save so much time and frustration when designing or tweaking recipes. The updated version (Beersmith 2) moves to an even more user friendly format and adds a few really cool features (like a full pint picture of what your final product is estimated to look like). The brew log helps a brewer track each batch made which helps you learn as you brew batch after batch. The accompanying book is a nice overview of brewing, however the how to videos that come with the software (or available on the website) can get you started quickly so you can get to the important part (Brewing!). You can't finds a better deal for the price.

Everytime I use this software I find new things I like about it. I love the inventory and shopping kart features. I buy my grains in bulk and it is nice to know just exactly what I am short on. I also like how when designing a recipe it tells me how much the recipe costs. It adjusts for the age of the yeast I use. It also takes into account the age of my hops based on how I store them. It's estimates of my OG are almost always within a point or two.

The only downsides are the calendar on it counts down from when you edit a recipe rather than when you actually brew it. I have to do some adding and averaging to get the correct price on my grain when buying a new batch. But these are really no big deal.

I highly recommend this product.

I bought this software after I had made 3 Kit Beers and 2 of my own and have used it to design my last three beers. Awesome guide to design your recipes just right. You can use their recipes from the recipe cloud. I like to research a specific beer like an American IPA or Saison to see what they traditionally are made up of, look at a few typical recipes on the BeerSmith cloud, then punch some ingredients into the software and tweak it until I get the numbers where I want them for my brew. It is incredible software for a brew nerd like me. It can definitely help you with everything from ingredients, to a yeast starter, and even ciders and meads. It calculates what the beer will look like, alcohol %, IBU, and even yeast cell count for a starter. It does everything as advanced or basic as you need. For under 30 bucks it is a nice bargain.

This is the software to buy. You can import in 100's of real proven recipes from the internet. then scale them automatically to the size you want. All grain, partial mash, extract. I finally bought it after using Brewtoad and the numbers never working out like they do in real life. Beersmith is dead on and awesome.

I really enjoy the features and in depth tools used for brewing multiple batches of delicious brew. I do not think there is a better bargain for the type of easy to use software you will receive with this product. However, the internet portion of the software that I assume is supposed to take you to online references does not work and gives a very annoying error message + tone. I will probably contact Beersmith's customer service, but still it has been extremely frustrating to deal with, taking away from the love of beer making

The only true knowledge consists of knowing that you know nothing, and I have true knowledge with this software. It is an awesome tool for assembling recipes, and it provides invaluable brew day information based on my equipment. There's a free online recipe builder that I've used in the past for extract recipes, but as I move toward all-grain brewing, this software is gong to be invaluable. I am only scratching the surface of BeerSmith, but I can tell that there is a LOT that it offers. I am looking forward to growing in my ability to use this software.

I looked at BeerSmith software shortly after I started all grain brewing. However, I had a hard time understanding how to use it, so decided not to purchase it. Now, however, after brewing many batches and learning ( and understanding) a whole lot more about the science of brewing, I have purchased BeerSmith2 and enjoy the information as well as the brewing assistance it provides.

BeerSmith 2 does all the heavy work of concocting recipes and coming up with the estimated final numbers on my beers. I love the fact that it has almost all the grains, yeasts, hops, and adjuncts that I use in my beer, although I still have to be careful to make sure that the grain SG and color matches up to what is programmed into the database.
I also love that this program allows me to catalog my own recipes and alter them easily whenever I need to make changes, as well as lets me view other people's recipes!
I recommend BeerSmith 2 to any homebrewer out there who needs a helping hand at record keeping, especially those who always try to brew from rote rather than tracking all changes.
