You can find the ear wax if you unroll the candles afterwards, kinda gross though.
I find it a bit challenging to do it by myself, probably a bit dangerous too. So make sure you have a partner to do it for you.

As a general rule of thumb, you should be weary about sticking anything in your ear. I read several articles that ear waxing could be dangerous, so I'd consult a doctor before attempting this.
