This CD has everything. It has character, history, great tuning record, great music and great musician!!!
Marco Alcantara is a new generation of great pianists! He has innovative talent you would not believe. His way of playing Beethoven has its unique way, which I believe real close to what Beethoven wanted on his music himself. The special tuning of the piano gives this CD a 5 star CD because it makes the piano sound to be real close to the real Beethoven time piano.
Marco has come a long way....He has other CDs (not sold by amazon at this moment), which are great CDs as well, but this is his first Beethoven interpretation one. And I have to say: " What a interpretation!"
Please, buy this CD if you enjoy Beethoven music. I guarantee you will love it!!!

The two main reasons I decided to buy this item were: (a) I really love this masterwork (Diabelli Variations) whose I have some other recordings, and (b) this is a SACD recording using --for the first time in history-- the original piano tuning used by LVB at that time.
And after heard it, I was really nice surprised to 'see' how fresh was Marco's interpretation and so adherent to Beethoven's original score.
Other point I believe you will also appreciate is that besides the complete Variations, Mr Marco Alcantara (a young brazilian Pianoforte master), had also recorded Beethovens sketches for this masterpiece.
Don't be impressed by this strange and bad-taste art cover.
