Wonderful Beethoven!, April 15, 2008

This is a perfect introduction to Beethoven's creative output as a folksong setter. It contains a wonderful selection from his settings of Scottish, Irish and Welsh songs all with piano trio and soprano.
You get a real sense of creativity and beautiful genius at work here!
The recording is excellent and all performers shine through giving real meaning and flavour to these English folksongs!
A great treat!
(I would probably try this disc first before venturing for the complete set on DG).
