Book Description

Beetle Bailey April 15, 1983
This lavish collection contains a whole year’s worth of daily and Sunday strips starring Mort Walker’s loveable slacker Pvt. Beetle Bailey. Set on the fictional Camp Swampy base, the strip follows the Beetle as he attempts to nap his way through his time at in the US Army and the everyday highs and lows of military life. Featuring inept officers (constantly distracted by Camp Swampy’s buxom secretary), a punchy Sergeant (and his identikit dog), and a host of other hilarious characters that capture all of Walker’s keenly observed wit and illustrate why the strip has remained immensely popular for over sixty years.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"After reading this edition of Beetle Bailey I have to say that I believe there’s a reason that Walker’s creation lasted as long as it did and it’s because Mort Walker was probably one of the true masters of comic strip art of the past century." -- Ain't It Cool News

"With a history that actually surpasses Peanuts, Beetle Bailey deserves a solid collection treatment, and Titan seems intent on delivering it." -- Crave Online --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

I Did It His Way: A Collection of Classic B.C. Religious Comic Strips
This is the year that made Beetle Bailey. Also, Mort Warker famous!.
It is a good buy/book. Keep in mine this is 1965. not 2011. It is a
little diffrent. However, not a lot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, January 15, 2011
Mort Walker is a genius. Having said that, he knew he had a great comic strip, and turned to a group of trusted writers, and family to help him keep it going, now for 60 years. He, is a true living legend of the industry, and Titan Books, with this volume, demonstrates why.

The cast of characters in the book covers the full range of insane, to unbelievable, from obsessed (with laziness) to possessed (to punish the same), yet all the while, WE are all there. Which character are you? Is there a bit of Sarge in your veins, or more Beetle? Which family member is Lt Fuzz? Who is the General in your world?

That is the beauty of Beetle Bailey, and 1965 has many classic strips that still read well today. I highly enjoy the series, 1965 or 2011, and always will. I am not sure why Titan chose 1965 to reprint, but I am thankful.

Well done Mr Walker and company.

2.0 out of 5 stars A big pocket book with a hardcover, October 16, 2010
This book is the same size as Hagar the Horrible, basically a big pocket book with a hardcover.

Not the same size as the previous edition with the original strips from the 1950's.

Most of these 1965 strips have been published in soft cover pocket books that go from $4 at the most, often at only $1.

A bit of a rip off to me, especially since the 1965 edition sells for the same as the larger and better documented 1950's edition.

They should have continued the 1950's strips with the same size, that would have been a better option
