Early readers will enjoy the rhythmic pace and lyrical repetition of the text which contributes to building their confidence as they read. The book’s lavish and elaborate images of African American characters are drawings adapted from Lance Lucas’s own personal collection of family photos and are interpreted by illustrator Tracy McCutchion. Lucas has created an imaginative and touching account, conveying an age-old message that both expectant parents can relate and children can learn. Now little ones can see how they were loved and cared for before they were even born.

Adrienne Lance Lucas is president and founder of Lance Lucas & Associates, a business strategy, operations and fundraising consultancy serving for profit and not for profit clients. Her hobbies and interests include studying the word of God, investing in real estate, studying financial literacy and planning for the legacy she intends to leave behind. A graduate of Spelman College and the Harvard Business School, she is a frequent speaker to higher education, non profit, small business and entrepreneurial audiences. She is the proud mother of one child, a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church and lives in Atlanta, GA.
