Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Allister release their third full-length CD Before The Blackout on October 11, 2005. Their sophomore album, Last Stop Suburbia went on to sell 80k copies and fans have been waiting patiently, three years to be exact, for the band’s follow-up. Before The Blackout incorporates sing-along melodies, break neck chord changes, and witty and sentimental lyrics, all elements that have cemented the 10-year old band as a stand out act. "A Study In Economics" is quintessential Allister, while tracks like the heavier "Blackout" and the edgier "Waiting" demonstrate the band’s growth, musically and personally. Allister is respected by fellow musicians and fans alike for their demonstrable commitment to the DIY ethics of the punk scene. Tried and true, Allister is back with Before The Blackout to remind us how it’s done!

This is a great CD. It has some swearing, but it is still great. It has catching tunes and lyrics. It is very nice.

5.0 out of 5 stars great followup to last stop suburbia, April 30, 2007
By K. Gravel (Boston, MA USA) - See all my reviews

I wasn't sure that Allister were going to be able to top Last Stop Suburbia, but they did by a long shot. You can hear a more mature direction and understanding while still remaining tied to their own sound. I definietly recommend this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Stuff, October 4, 2006
By J. Neighbor (Herndon, VA United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a fun, talented punk group. Every song on "Blackout" rocks, and the lyrics are right on. "I Lied" (#8) through "Alone" (#14) just fly by, and each has it's own catchy tune and fun lyrics. I've got a 9 year old son, and while the lyrics are pretty salty (I sing loud, different words over them), he loves the beats."A Study in Economics" (#9) has a little Cheap Trick sound, and "Pegleg Sullivan" (#12) is a great piece of Chicago story telling. This CD is well worth the few bucks.
