Great, February 4, 2009

A truly great compilation for all real bruce fans - I highly recommend this. A lot of great stories in these songs, and he really sings very emotionally in most of them - a welcome contrast between some of his faster songs. "A Southern Sun" really moved me, as well as "Zero and Blind Terry Version 1." An excellent cd for a long car trip - one to really get into. Also - excellent sound quality, very clear and uncluttered.

Bruce Before The Game, September 29, 2010
This review is from: Before The Fame (2-CD) RARE (Audio CD)
Forget the E Street Band. That's Bruce watered down for commercialism which is of course what people thrive on. When you hear these acoustic songs with a lot less back up its Bruce at his best in my opinion and I easily wondered why the producers didn't let more of this stuff out. The closest thing I can think of is Tom Joad. Like Dylan, Bruce is at his best story telling one on one like he was in the bar down the street or in your living room singing about the neighborhood. I'm glad I heard this and I hope he does more like them. He really put a lot of himself into these songs and I enjoyed all of them.
