4.0 out of 5 stars Family saga, June 28, 2008
This review is from: Before the Storm (Paperback)
In 1909, wealthy, middle aged businessman Richard Finborough is captivated by 20 year old Isabel Zeale whom he meets at a seaside town in Devon. He urges her to marry him despite her protests that there is something in her past of which he wouldn't approve. Isabel allows herself to be persuaded into marriage with his promises of love and security. Isabel and Richard happily and successfully raise two children and their life continues undisturbed through the turmoils of WW1 and then WW2, when their children face their own problems and begin their own separate lives. When a ghost from the past suddenly confronts Isabel, Richard is forced to examine his own feelings and his loyalty to Isabel is undermined by visions from the past. It's a good family saga type book and as such, will be enjoyed by readers of this genre.
