I consider myself to be pretty well versed when it comes to vintage baseball card knowledge, but this book contains information on sets I've never even heard of! The information given is pretty detailed, and the numerous pictures of the cards being discussed definitely help put a face to the name. I would recommend this book to any baseball card fan!

I'm sure it's difficult to wirte a book and I'm no expert, but this book really left me wanting a lot more. I know quite a bit about the history of baseball cards but not so much about the early stuff. This book is a fine and very basic introduction into the field, but that is it. It also has a few to many ads for the card shop that wrote the book, especially for the small size the book is in the first place. It took me about 30 minutes of reading every page to get through this one.

I've only just gotten into baseball cards, and this book was extremely helpful on the older collections. I can't think of anyplace else where you can find all of this knowledge in one place. A great read and very informative!

What a unique book. Baseball -- "America's National Pastime" -- is a part of our heritage.

Before it was a business, the game of baseball was fun and something uniquely American. This book gives a glimpse into the early days, the days "Before there was Bubble Gum."

Note: For younger readers, that's how baseball cards used to come. At every store in the 50s and 60s, you could find packets of bubble gum for a penny, with a collectable baseball card inside.

This book takes you back to the early days of baseball, with images from the past. It's written by the owner of the largest business in collectable baseball cards. He knows the history of the game and this art form -- baseball cards.

A fun read.

I liked this book because it contained very old baseball card pix. Some of the cards in this book were actually featured in Cooperstown. I would like to recommend this book to those who'll soon be visiting Cooperstown.

A quick read presenting the turn of the century cards that were produced for the sports fans of the day. If you collect "the old cards" this book is a helpful guide for information.

This book is a good beginner for the collector who is looking to learn some basics about the more popular early tobacco cards.
