5.0 out of 5 stars this album starts out weird and progresses from there, March 18, 2010
This review is from: Beg for It (Audio CD)
is it just me or does Hardcore Superstar sound like Motley Crue? the lead vocalist sounds like Vince Neil of Motley Crue. as a matter of fact, Hardcore Superstar sounds like Motley Crue on steroids. you would have to wonder if they turn their drummer upside down. track no. 1 "This Worm's For Ennio" is a nice touch and the title track ends with a sound of broken glass, as if it were auditioning for Stone Cold Steve Austin's entrance theme. this band sounds so much like Motley Crue that it would sound at home singing any of their songs. I wonder if Vince could get his hands on a copy of this album and listen to it and wonder if this is a tribute band. this is some uplifting stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars As good as it gets!, October 2, 2009
This review is from: Beg for It (Audio CD)
I just picked up Beg for It, the latest release by Hardcore Superstar, and all I can say is "wow." This was the first album I've heard from the Swedish sleaze rock band (their albums aren't that affordable or easy to find), but I can guarantee it won't be my last.

As soon as the instrumental "This Worm's for Ennio" (a tribute to spaghetti western composer Ennio Morricone) ends and the title track kicks in, you know you're in for a wild ride with Beg for It. No one does this kind of ultra-melodic, super catchy sleaze rock like the Swedes, and Hardcore Superstar does it better than most. The guitar hooks on Beg for It are just insane, sounding like they're coming straight from a Ratt album, and the solos are totally Slash-inspired. The vocals also rock like that everlovin' hurricane, with sneering odes to living fast, partying hard and little else, and choruses you absolutely have to shout along with. This is a total party rock album, and one that's impossible to listen to sitting down.

I'd love to give this album to every Coldplay and/or Nickelback-listening thirtysomething to remind them what rock n' roll is supposed to feel like. If you still blast albums by Motley Crue, Guns n' Roses and Skid Row on a regular basis, this album will reaffirm your faith in modern rock. If you're already down with current high octane bands like Dirty Penny, Airbourne, and Endeverafter, you'll definitely want to check out Hardcore Superstar. They may just be the best of the bunch - and that's saying something.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty incredible album from Hardcore Superstar, February 23, 2011

Beg For It is the seventh album released by Swedish rockers Hardcore Superstar. The album is just about melodic-rock perfection, and one can only imagine what would transpire if these guys recieved radio and video airplay in the U.S.A.

Beg For It marks another slight tweak to Hardcore Superstar's sound. The band's first two records remind alot of early Motley Crue, their next two albums stray into what may be labeled as 70's styled glam-rock, with their self-titled record and Dreamin' In A Casket, they made a hard u-turn back to guitar driven melodic-rock music. Beg For It finds Hardcore Superstar taking the next step in the evolution of melodic-rock, the songs are all solid and catchy, and they don't feed us any filler during the whole album. The album highlights are hard to point out, mainly due to the fact that every song is amazing. However, i'll give you my album favorites, Take Em' All Out is my personal favorite, it sounds extremely close to GNR' during their early heyday. Remove My Brain, Into Debauchery, Nervous Breakdown, Beg For It, and Don't Care About Your Bad Behaviour are also outstanding tracks that make Beg For It a five-star melodic-rock album.

I hate to admit this, but I have only recently become a Hardcore Superstar fan. I had no idea there were bands that still made amazing melodic-rock music like these guys. I'm almost ashamed, considering how much I love this type of music, but hey, i'm on the winning team now and can't wait for Hardcore Superstar's next release!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible melodic Sleaze metal reintroducing hot-shot guitarist Vic Zino, January 1, 2011

"Beg for it" is the 7th studio album by Swedish Sleaze metal band "Hardcore Superstar" originally released in 2009. "Hardcore Superstar" emerged as a recording band in the late 90s therefore could rightfully be considered as the fathers of the European hair metal revivalism in the millenum.

Still the band have trascended, over the years, from a sleze rock group to a full blown sleaze/hair metal outfit with uncompromizing gutar attack, unreserved drumming (double kicks, toms, and speeding tempos all included) plus sleazy, yet more melodic than you would expect, vocals; all this under a totally metallic production. The band have named their sound "Street metal", portraying it as the mixture of sleaze vocals and melodies with the speed and attack of heavy metal.

"Beg for it" features all the above characteristics plus newfound instrumental melodies courtesy of new entry guitarist hot shot Vic Zeno who joined the band in 2008, having left his previous group "Crazy Lixx". Beyond Zeno, the "Hardcore Superstar" line up features established members Joakim Berg(v), Martin Sandvik (b)and Magnus Andreasson (d).

Songwriting-wise "beg for it" is an incredibly accomplished sleaze metal album, amongst the best the genre has produced, adding to that the amazing performance of newcomer Vic and the devastating production and you have a flawless Sleaze metal album in you hands. 12 out of 12 songs on the album are favorites. "Beg for it" is the safest and most satisfactroy choice for any Sleaze/hair fan.
