While 50 Cent was burning up the streets with his mixtapes to get a buzz for himself, he also had his crew G Unit, which at that time composed of 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo. "50 Cent Is The Future" and "No Mercy, No Fear" were both mixtape bangers. Although you heard alot of 50 on these mixed tapes, Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo showed that they belonged in the rap game. Lloyd Banks especially displayed his skills with all the clever punch lines that he had in each verse. 50 Cent eventually signed with Eminem's Shady Records. Once the mixtape banger "Wanksta" was on the 8 Mile soundtrack, you knew that there would be nothing but good things to come from 50's affiliation with Eminem and Dr. Dre. "In Da Club" was produced by Dr. Dre and fueled the buzz for 50's solo CD "Get Rich Or Die Trying". After one week of being on the shelves 50's solo disc sold over 800,000 units. 50 also was trying to negotiate a deal for G Unit as a group and a label. They would eventually sign to Interscope Records. Tony Yayo would be arrested early in 2003 and he had to do a year in jail. So 50 decided that Young Buck, who was already in G Unit, to take a major role like Lloyd Banks in the group's 1st Interscope Records release.

"Beg For Mercy" is nothing that is groundbreaking. You have heard everything that they have said before. The difference is that most people who followed the G Unit through all the mixtapes know that they usually have a hard street edge to all of their songs, even when they talk about the ladies. On "Beg For Mercy" in certain instances it seems as if their hard edge had been watered down. If G Unit is trying to appeal to certain audiences then I can understand because you have to look at the bigger picture.

"G Unit" starts off the CD as straight fire. If you didn't look at the CD's credits you would think that the track was produced by Dr. Dre but Hi-Tek produces the track as Young Buck, 50 Cent, and Lloyd Banks all get "Beg For Mercy" off to a nice start. The 1st single "Stunt 101" is produced by Denaun Porter of D-12, who also produced 50's "P.I.M.P". The song was a good choice to be the 1st single eventhough the song does have a west coast feel to it. The 2nd single, "Poppin' Them Thangs" is produced by Dr. Dre and Scott Storch as is an upgrade from "Stunt 101" as Lloyd Banks definitely makes the best performance on this song with all of his clever punch lines. "My Buddy" has the G Unit talking about how their weapon of choice travels with them no matter what the situation is and has everyone dedicating a verse to "their friend to the end". "Better Ask Somebody" has everyone cleverly talking junk the whole song as Young Buck even says he's going to get Trina by the summer. I am not sure about that one Young Buck, but "Better Ask Somebody" is one of this CD's better songs. Hi-Tek is back on the boards again with "Eye For Eye". If Lloyd Banks wasn't singing at the beginning of the song, this would probably be my favorite song on this CD, but once everyone gets down to business, this is another tight song on the CD. My favorite track on "Beg For Mercy" is "G'd Up" as the good Dr. Dre blesses the G Unit with one of his better laid back tracks. "Lay You Down" sounds like it's a message for DTP's Chingy as it sounds like his name is mentioned before the beat even starts playing. The track is another tight song on this CD.

While "Beg For Mercy" has alot of street anthems on the CD, they also save some tracks for the ladies, some good and some not so good. The best being "I Wanna Get To Know You" featuring Joe and the solo track from Lloyd Banks, "Smile". On "I Wanna Get To Know You" the thugs try their best to display how their trying to get to know a woman to gain other "benefits" at a later date or even on the 1st night. "Smile" definitely shows a different side of Lloyd Banks. Although, the track is nothing that you would think that you would hear from Lloyd he definitely displays that he can have a solo career with this track. "Groupie Love" features Butch Cassidy an is an alright track. Tony Yayo has a nice verse on the track, as well as Lloyd Banks, but 50 could have stayed off the track this time. "Baby You Got" could have been left off this CD and isn't even worth talking about.

50 Cent, Lloyd Banks and even Young Buck have nice solo songs on this CD. 50's "I'm So Hood" is more of an interlude but he has two nice verses on the track. Young Buck's "Footprints" shows that he has solo skills but he should still wait behind Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo before he tries to drop a solo CD.

Overall, "Beg For Mercy" is a decent CD. It's not better than "Get Rich Or Die Trying" but the CD is not as bad as everyone is making it seem. What everyone has to understand is that the G Unit's days of just making mixed Cds are over and since they have a major label deal they have to tone things down a little bit. However, that also means that they shouldn't be singing on the tracks and that Mr. 5 0 himself should step his rap game up as XXL would say. Your G Unit members shouldn't outshine the major artist on the CD and that's exactly what Lloyd Banks does to 50. I would still recommend picking this CD up because there are some good tracks on "Beg For Mercy". Then when they release a 2nd disc we will get to hear Tony Yayo on more tracks since he has been released from jail.

For what possible reason did Amazon disabled 0-star reviews? This CD doesn't even deserve a 1 because it cost $15! There is about 3 good songs in this entire album and that IS NOT worth $15! It's no wonder piracy is so rampant. With albums like this, how could it not be? Even Cary Sherman (president of RIAA) would rather download the few good songs off of this album than buy it.

I am telling you guys that this is an "MTV album". In case you don't know, an MTV album is an album where the only good tracks are the ones they let you see on TV. If you're think the rest of the album has anything resembling good music, you're sadly mistaken. Here's how the album is in the first ten tracks:

1. G-Unit - This first track is stunningly horrible. The beat is crappy and the lyrics is forgettable. Supposedly, Ludacris is featured in this track. Either he played an unimportant role or being around G-Unit manage to screw up his normally memorable singing. Either way, talent is wasted.

2. Popping Them Thangs - The first good song on this album. It's catchy and the beat is good. It also happens to be the first track where Lloyd Banks proves to be a walking punch line. I mean, listen to this lyrics by him. "Slow down, little *****, don't exceed your speed. 'Cause I will put G's on they fitted like the Negro league."

3. My Buddy - Simply put, it is boring. The beat is nowhere near as bad as the first track, but it is no Popping Them Thangs either.

4. I'm So Hood - Same problem as #3, except the beat is more ridiculous and the lyrics are more non-sensical.

5. Stunt 101 - Needless to say, this the second good song. Like I said, this is an MTV album. As one of the few good songs on this album, it has the same attributes as song #2. It has a good beat, the lyrics are catchy, and Lloyd Banks will throw a few lines at you.

6. Wanna Get To Know You - Oh God, it's Country Grammar all over again. From rap to something resembling R&B, so many groups are doing this. The beat here is like something from N-Sync and the lyrics sounds like it came from a 50 Cent when he's intoxicated. I HATE this song!

7. Groupie Love - Not as bad as track #6, but not better than the other bad tracks. The beat is horrible, the lyrics is horrible, and that damn woman that keeps moaning in the background pisses me off.

8. Betta Ask Somebody - What is there to say? It sucks. It has the same problem as the other tracks. This particular track sounds like it has just a bit too much trombone. The instrument is so distracting, that I have a hard time hearing the lyrics over it. Then again, who cares what the lyrics are? All I got from it was something about Mexicans.

9. Footprints - Wow, this is bad. The beat is MUCH worse than even the first track, the lyrics are non-sensical, and I'm still not sure if they even rhyme at all. The worst part about this track is the chorus. 50 Cent keeps talking about sets of footprints and I'm not even sure what the hell is he talking about.

10. Eye For Eye - From the title, you would think it is something about revenge. If it is, I couldn't tell because I was too busy gagging at more bad beats and even worse lyrics. I just wanted to choke Lloyd Banks here.

And the album continues similarly. This has got to be THE worst rap album I've ever heard. After track #10, the only good track is maybe G'd Up.

Really! This album is so horrible that I emailed Amazon complaining about not being able to give a zero! Do yourself a favor, people. Get a GOOD album!

How can people listen to this garbage??? Its all the SAME crap over and over. Look, if your some helpless teenybopper wondering how 50 Cent is "sooooo talented" then I'll give you his recipie to success:
1. Have a horrible voice that has no personality and sounds dull
2. Write lyrics about guns, women, cars, and "bling-bling" over and over and over.
3. Press the "demo" button on a synthesizer and a drum machine,
And there you go! You'll be on your way to platinum success in a matter of days and idiotic high school kids all over the nation will be blasting your horrible music in their craptastic used cars with the bass all the way up to make themselves be "cool" and "in". Have a great day and enjoy your success.

OHHH I forgot one step: you have to make a video where your in a club with women who will be wearing basically nothing and you must be wearing baggy clothes, "bling-bling" and have pointless hand gestures.

To the fans of g unit this album is nothing compared to the debuts of other groups like CNN,LOX and D12 these groups albums were way better and never went pop like g unit. To the haters of The Game buy his new mixtape called You Know What It Is Vol 3 that mixtape is on fire with the 15 minute diss to g unit. G unit is probably gonna be around for a while cause mainstream will keep buying this. But I recommend that you do not buy this. Buy the CNN's War Report album now that is real rap.

How can you people call this music? All they do is talk about being rich, killing people, and doing drugs. All rap sounds the same. It's a broken record. We get it your rich and supposidely kill people. Does that make you cool or something? This has to be some of the worst music in history.

If you think 50 cent is a lyricist you must be one of those ignorant m fs who stared listening to rap when Eminem blew out.And if you think this c.d is worth your 12.99 then a Jay Z cd should be worth 129.90 .
If you gave this c.d 5 stars please take your stars back because your ability to critique is worth one star.
50's boys did better than him in this album and considering that they are below mediocre then it doesn't say much.

Can Someone tell me when we are going to hear another "Life After Death" coz I'm starting to lose hope in this genre of music. Jay Z is hanging his boots and I bet Nas will follow too - which will leave us with idiots like 50 cent and G Unit to listen to.

The shallowness of this cd is something incredibly offending! Songs like "i smell pussy", "poppin' them thangs(?!)" and "groupie love" are songs that are simply stupid. (...)I don't reccomend this cd to anybody, especially not to 14 year-old girls that are having problems finding themselves in this horrid world! Anyway try listening to something more intelligent. UNDERGROUND HIP-HOP 4EVER!

I really hate these guys. They make a terrible attempt at music. My fish is probably more talented then all these guys COMBINED. I could probably write and perform a better song then any of these guys. This stinks and don't buy it.

This is Genital Unit's best album yet. Previously, all their stuff centered on the agonies of coming out to their friends and families. Now that they have finally done so and have received happy blessings from everyone in the hood for their courage and sensitivity, these three homeys can relax and stop with the self-loathing. Now they can express their feelings of joy and wonderment in exploring alternative lifestyles and lovestyles in the protective comfort of a gay-friendly environment in the Compton area. The first track is particularly touching: Jam master Slicey Dice reveals his determination to release the dainty woman that has long been trapped within the hulking frame of a macho-posturing thug rapper. To hear such heartbreaking conflict finally come to glorious resolution as Slicey vows to undergo gender-reassignment surgery gives hope and encouragement to all the other homeys in the L.A. rap scene suffering from similar identity conflicts. Be bold, be brave, my beautiful gay black brothers!
