A thoroughly delightful "International Musical Buffet",

This review is from: Begegnungen (Audio CD)
As a Peter Maffay Fan from Chicago,USA,I found the variety of sounds and "flavors" in this CD exciting and "delicious" From the beautiful duet "Savior" with Noa, "Wapio" (with Lohua Kanza.) Maffay sings in Kanza's African language with a deep smooth voice demonstrating his own vocal range which compliments the Kanza's heartfelt tenor. A new treatment for a favorite "Nessaja" in duet with Jose Carreras? Yes, it works. The Rich unique voice of Keb'Mo carries "Am I wrong" with Maffay hanging right in there. Maffay's native German is evident with the contrasting pronunciation on this track, yet his own fine voice and the pure enjoyment of music is a joy to hear. Each of the artists featured in Begegnungen is a talented musician. After a year of listening to this CD I find it still fresh and and fun.

Perfect precusor to listen to this music before my daughter's unique foray into Lakota territory in South Dakota and Western Nebraska.

A different "version" of Peter Maffay,
By A Customer
This review is from: Begegnungen (Audio CD)
Never being a big Peter Maffay fan in the past, this CD brings out another side of the artist. It is full of rich, cultural music with just a few hints of Maffay within. The only real negative thing I found was not in the music, but in the lack of information about the other artists involved...like Where are they from? What language are they singing? etc. I also found the duet with KEB MO pretty weak. All in all a very nice mix and enjoyable CD.
