5.0 out of 5 stars Best Guitar Lessons Out There!
I bought the first book and dvd from these guys and this one is even BETTER! The instructor is great, the lessons are very easy to understand and are very thorough, you can go at your own pace and I loved the songs they teach. I have tried out a bunch of guitar lesson books and DVD's that are out there today and this one is by far the best. This is a FANTASTIC beginner...

Not a bad book, but every single lesson on the CD is available FOR FREE online at the iPlayMusic website. The book itself is redundant if you have the video lessons. Save your money for another book.

I am actually playing the guitar now, thanks to these lessons. I am also going to buy their Level 2 DVD because I liked this one so much!

5.0 out of 5 stars I can relate to this product!, November 30, 2005
This review is from: Beginner Guitar Lessons, Level 1: For Acoustic & Electric Guitar (Book & DVD) (Paperback)
The thing I like most about this product is that there's no hype about making you a rock-star in 10 minutes. The guy on the video is just a regular guy who really knows how to teach (show) people how to play. I tried to learn guitar a few years ago, but the books and scales and theory were all too complicated. This DVD, along with the book, skips all that stuff and just shows you how to play -- I never knew I could be jamming along to cool songs so quickly! I'm finally having fun with my guitar instead of letting it collect dust in the closet!

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply the best way to learn guitar, November 29, 2005
This review is from: Beginner Guitar Lessons, Level 1: For Acoustic & Electric Guitar (Book & DVD) (Paperback)
This is an amazing product. I have seen other how-to-play guitar videos, but this is by far the best. The play-along viddeos make it much easier to play songs. The method is by far the easiest way to get started and have fun. I had their first books- they were great, but this is better. My kids just love playing along with me- so the videos have become a family activity. Would highly reccomend to anyone- and a great value as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the complete beginner, February 5, 2007

If you know nothing about playing the guitar, this is the next best thing to live instruction. It starts from square one and will have you playing a few simple songs in a very short time. The split screen technique on the video is very effective, with two frames each showing a close-up of a hand, and a third frame showing the whole player. The book has nice, big photos of hand positions for the chords - not just dots on a fret board diagram - which is also very helpful.

The only down side is that it won't take you very far. The book contains only 17 chords, which may sound like a lot if you've never played, but many popular songs need chords not covered in the book. It wouldn't have cost them that much more to add another dozen or so.

Just as their title says "Quick, SImple, and Easy." These guitar lessons are the best. I have tried many other methods and this one is the best. The guy in the DVD teaches strumming and all the techniques in a clear manner.

5.0 out of 5 stars love this item, January 24, 2007
This review is from: Beginner Guitar Lessons, Level 1: For Acoustic & Electric Guitar (Book & DVD) (Paperback)
This a great way to learn to play the guitar for a beginner. I play the DVD over and over and I feel like I'm learning much faster than if I had just bought a book.

I gave this DVD as a gift to my husband for Christmas in 2006. The DVD is great! The instructor starts w/ the basics, shows it a bit more complete, and then plays the cord/song at regular tempo. It's challenging, but works. Also, there's a loop feature so you can watch the same 5 minute segment again and again. The instructor shows cords, transitions, and songs. The book is not all that great or helpful, but the DVD is worth it.

These are extremely basic lessons. If you are not interested in owning the hard copy you can subscribe to the podcasts of each of the lessons from iPlayMusic from iTunes for free. As for the lessons themselves, these are really good for beginners!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good, August 26, 2009

I really like this book and DVD. Since I am a beginning guitar player, the lessons are easy to understand and follow. I truly am learning a lot about how to play the different chords, how to transition between chords, etc. I like the fact that I can read the book and use the DVD to re-emphasize what I read.. Also, I can always replay a particular lesson if I need to refer back to something. For a beginner, I think this book and DVD is a great place to start.
