Book Description

Despite Apple's legendary ease of use, the iPad presents many users with a challenge. Its unique design, operating system, and applications--among other things--can be confounding to the very business people who would find it beneficial. The primary audience for this ebook is business people working in a corporate environment who have been issued an iPad by their employer and are looking to integrate the low-cost iPad into their workflow. Topics covered include syncing the iPad with Windows-based devices, working with spreadsheets, developing and presenting slideshows, app recommendations, and more.

1.0 out of 5 stars no table of contents--no index May 31, 2011

I just got this book and deleted it.
The book has no table of contents and no index!
It is not like this is a novel--this is basically a manual. How are you supposed to know what is in it and where to find information you want? Any decent word processor would have created a table of contents and index. This is just laziness on the part of the author/publisher.
Scanning through, it just seems to repeat stuff you find in the Ipad manual and the instructions for software like Keypoint.
The book was free but it wastes your time so forget it until the publisher fixes it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A big help if you're new to the iPad May 30, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I don't have an iPad yet. I've been debating whether I need one or not. I don't play games other than a word game. And since that helps my vocabulary and I'm a writer, I can't really classify that as a game. Nor do I watch lots of videos --- certainly none I can't watch on my computers or attach to my big screen television. Still, I thought it might be helpful in a number of ways. I read this short book to help me decide.

The author pretty much covers everything. He talks directly to the business user. There's nothing here for the casual user. Seems Apple left an awful lot off the iPad and you'll likely have to invest in a number of third party apps. Fortunately, they're quite cheap and look useful and feature rich.

You can do spreadsheets on the iPad and, important to me, you can edit Word documents. Of course, important to me is that you can read magazines and newspapers, something the Kindle doesn't do to the extent it's done on the iPad. Moreover, you can easily read PDF files. Also important to me.

The author goes through everything step by step. He shows you how to set up your email accounts, how to use the spreadsheet and all the other major programs and features of the iPad.

One feature that impressed me was using the iPad as a portfolio. The author writes, "Most business owners wouldn't think of using a laptop as a mobile portfolio, but the iPad is perfect. Just hand it off to an editor, prospective client, gallery owner, and so on and let them swipe through."

And, if your iPad misbehaves (and it will) the author says, "Occasionally your iPad or an app misbehaves and needs to be reset. To perform a soft reset on the iPad, simply hold the Power button and the Home button down simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.

3.0 out of 5 stars Really basic guide to iPad for business June 2, 2011
By meik1
Format:Kindle Edition
This covers only the very basics of using iPad for business. If you are even somewhat tech savvy, you do not need this. If you are not tech savvy, you might need something more than this. I kept waiting for a tip, or some new piece of info, but as someone who has experienced the iPad, I did not learn anything new. Maybe, if you are considering getting an iPad for business, you might take a look at this for some ideas of what it can do, but this should not be your sole source of info on iPad for business.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intro to Your Ipad June 1, 2011
By Alicia
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is definitely a beginners guide to your ipad - it starts out by instructing you how to set up email, wifi, etc. before moving on to using the ipad for presentations, portfolios, and documents/spreadsheets. It is well-written, easy for readers to understand. The lack of a Table Of Contents is a drawback, but its not a dealbreaker.

4.0 out of 5 stars Deserves more that an insutling 1* review! August 24, 2011
Now this e-book was actually 'free' when I did a download but still at the asking price is a nice quick review. An index would have been nice, but the guide is quite short and can be read quickly; bookmarks can be placed. Also, the topics are oriented toward the title's indication, so not a complete introduction to the iPad (and not meant to be). The writing is concise and the author knows the topic(s) - I'll go w/ my rating for the intended purpose.

5.0 out of 5 stars First Reader for my IPad 2 June 16, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I downloaded from Amazon this book titled USING YOUR IPAD prior to using my IPad and was most pleased at the organized methodical way it introduced me to my mew techie gadget. This is a good book in that it walks you thru each step with pages of detailed 'how to's' while holding the IPAD in your hand. A must for the beginner.
