Book Description

November 1, 1999
THE BEGINNERS GUIDE TO BALI is a CD-ROM disc with for the first time traveler to Bali. The travel guide is a manageable, useful travel guide that not only lists the best and most reasonable accommodations, tips on restaurants, transportation and nightlife - but more importantly how to pay local prices, not tourist prices. The guides intimate details of local bargaining customs along with currency exchange information gives the first time visitor or budget traveler a leg up upon arrival in Bali.

The guide is written in such a way that it takes travelers by the hand the minute they step off the plane and takes care of them until they fly back home. It not only offers a colorful pictorial background of Balinese landscapes, detailed maps with important locations, but insiders knowledge of how to avoid being ripped off.

THE BEGINNERS GUIDE TO BALI is the first compact guide in a series of travel CD-ROMs to be published on different Asian locales. NAGA (Indonesian for Dragon) can be contacted at info@baliboy.com.

Editorial Reviews

Review

THE BEGINNERS GUIDE TO BALI is the single womans guide to a successful holiday. I knew what to expect when I got there and having computer access to the guide from any internet site made it easy to travel with. Just the bargaining advantage alone made the guide indispensable. -- "12/02/1999 by Monique at the BaliForum"

To Baliboy who has stirred up the **** with... THE BEGINNERS GUIDE TO BALI, well done for at least letting potential visitors know about Bali. NO TRAVEL AGENT IN THE WORLD is going to highlight these incidents in the Island of the Gods! My experience here agrees with the views expressed by the Baliboy camp. My point-I was not prepared for all of this. I too read the brochures, swallowed the travel agent bull....I am an economy fare traveler-probably Mr. and Mrs. Average looking for value for money for a family holiday. -- "12/02/1999 by OFFSKI at the BaliForum"

5.0 out of 5 stars the new wave of travel guides, May 17, 2000

As a local born Balinese working in the tourist business in Bali, I would like to highly recommend "The Beginners Guide to Bali" to all first time visitors. This travel guide is an excellent "starter" guide in helping visitors become acquainted with the Kuta Beach area- the first stop in Bali. This travel guide has helped many of my clients in their transition to the outer areas of Bali. My customers find the information very useful and the compact cd-rom is the future of travel guides in the tour business.

5.0 out of 5 stars A definite must for first timers., July 25, 2002

The guide was extremely informative about the important stuff like, how to bargain without getting ripped off, where to stay, and what to stay away from such as the no-metered taxi cabs, cane chairs, and tourist traps especially in the Kuta area. The Cd-Rom is more up-to-date than any book you could purchase in the bookstore because it is constantly being updated. My husband and I went to some of the restaurants that are recommended, and for the price the food was outstanding. This is for the person who wishes to travel to paradise on a budget, but who wishes to experience all that Bali has to offer.
