5.0 out of 5 stars as always, Pauline turner does a great job.
M's Turner always does a great job in her books, so it's no big surprise that she does with this book. If you want to learn how to crochet or if you want to teach crochet, this is an excellent book to start your journey. The instructions are clear and concise and help make the learning process much easier.

I recommend this book highly for beginners.

2.0 out of 5 stars Wow did I get a different impression than the other people here

This review is from: Beginner's Guide to Crochet (Paperback)
Reading the other reviews for this book, I think I realize why my review may be entirely different from theirs. These people have this book and already know how to crochet. I am a true beginner. I started crochet about a week ago and I couldn't be more disappointed in this book. I find that the descriptions are entirely inadequate. The photos are somewhat helpful but still are usually of a part of the stitch that I understand while glossing over the parts that are confusing. The author could learn the value of using photoshop and inserting an arrow on a picture to point out exactly what she's referring to sometimes. She gets a fail from me when it comes to adding in different color yarn and the like. She does not teach beyond the example patterns that are provided (which are antiquated looking at best for the most part). I think that this is the kind of book that I may pick up a year from now more as a reference than anything. Overall I'm highly disappointed mostly due to what I feel is, at best, a misleading title and at worst a poorly written beginners guide. Honestly, I've found the small guides that I've found through internet search engines more helpful at this point and those are all free.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Reference Book - For Beginners & Up, April 12, 2006
This review is from: Beginner's Guide to Crochet (Paperback)
I've been crocheting for over 2 years now, and I still pick up this book whenever I need extra guidance or a quick reminder on how to perform a specific stitch. I have acquired many crochet books in the past 2 years, but the Beginner's Guide to Crochet is the one book I consistently grab when I sit down to start a new project.

5.0 out of 5 stars Single Crochet for Beginners, April 23, 2009

This review is from: Beginner's Guide to Crochet (Paperback)
This is a very good introduction to the craft of crochet. It starts you off at the very beginning making chains . After chains there are some easy projects: hats and scarves for minature dolls. They show you how to make the dolls too. Scarves and hats for older children, a potholder, a baby bib and more.

I think this is a very well planned out book great for children to learn from.

I would reccamend this book to anyone who wants to learn to crochet. Just go through this book step by step and before long you'll be crocheting like a pro.
