I've done drawn thread work before, so I'm no beginner. I bought the book because I am a big fan of Patricia Bage's work. This book has beautiful pictures of the projects as well as step by step illustrations of the different stitches used in the project. I highly recommend it.

You couldn't want more in a book than this little number by Patricia Bage for clarity of method and technique, simple illustrations and nice projects to finish. You will get a true sampling of stitches including 10 techniques in drawn thread alone, 12 in embroidery, how to bead and 4 really pretty samplers to incorporate and learn the techniques through and through. I love that she shows each of the 4 samplers in 2 different color schemes. This allows you to see the potential of personal design that so inspire as to sit right down and begin to stitch. She has included a comprehensive list of fabrics, threads and supplies with photographs of everything that are very close-up and detailed and leave nothing to guess at. You can try your hand at one type of stitching or become truly an expert by finishing one or more of the samplers. What a great find!

This book is so much more than it seems. It's a treasure, the images are so neat and beautiful, widely displayed across the page. The tutorials are excellent! Step by step instructions with pictures and graphs...
It has information on materials, important considerations before stitching, tutorials on the techniques, plus four beautiful projects shown in different color schemes and finishes... Best needlework book I own.

This book is a must have for anyone wanting to learn or improve their drawn thread stitching! The author has used clear diagrams and beautiful patterns to demonstrate the different stitch types in this style of needlework. A Must Have!

Wonderful book detailing easy step by step instructions for learning drawn thread emboidery. Great pictures and diagrams. Would recommend this book to anyone wanting to recreate this form of needle art.

Having read the other excellent reviews about this book and because I am experienced in cross stitch and Hardanger I did not anticipate any problem in following the instructions. However, I cannot totally agree with the other reviewers about the clarity of the instructions. The pages for the (very significant) information about cutting threads and reweaving are not well laid out and the photos are not large enough and - most importantly of all - there are no instructions at all on what to do with one of every two cut threads. I had to get this information - with much better photographs - from the internet. To support my view about the inadequacy of Patricia Bage's instructions for reweaving threads, the writer of the internet article says that this information is missing from the book.

I started one of the samplers and was a bit confused as the instructions said to leave some threads uncut which made no sense at all in the context of the stitches. I did what I thought was right (it was!), but less experienced stitchers would probably not have the confidence to do that.

I was also disappointed that there are so few projects in the book, and the last , admittedly nit-picky, gripe is that I found many of the photographs very off-putting because of the demonstrator's manicure - yuk.

So, this book does have its faults but it is attractive and informative and will help you get started (with some internet help) in drawn threadwork.

I got this book and thot I must be going nuts when I came to page 17 and it was in another language ! I am now wondering if ALL are same, or I can exchange and get one ALL in english :) 8 of the 63 pages are in what I beleive is spanish, but it could be something else. Wondering if anyone else has had this problem ?!

Easy to follow instructions on material selection to thread choices. Step by step instructions (with zoomed in pictures) on various stitch techniques...very easy to follow . Great on project ideas too. Excellent purchace!

Clear instructions, beautifully presented with some simply gorgeous projects to try your hand at. If you haven't already got a copy, and drawn thread embroidery interests you, this is the book to have.

I'm using the book I bought on Amazon. It was exactly as the description had explained and has been helpful with the embroidery. I recommend the service and especially like the venue in which the books are presented.
