Monica Coates has many years of experience and uses her knowledge to offer individuals seeking knowledge and understanding of the music industry a chance to get a clear view of what the industry is about. From the artist, marketing/promotion, distribution, production..etc this book will inform you and offer advice that will help you gain direction for your musical career.

The author doesn't solely focus on the complexities of the industry, but gives valuable insight on the spiritual requirements that are so often overlooked. I love the fact that she places emphasis on knowing what your true calling is. Is it for national, local, or church edification for the body of Christ? Many think that just because they are good singers or musicians, that their calling is for national. This provided an excellent reality check.

Gospel music exec and writer Monica Coates applies her considerable experience (working with Fred Hammond and Joann Rosario, helping launch several artists for EMI Gospel, and working in A&R for Verity) to crafting a readable, personal guide for artists. Highly recommended for those interested in or curious about careers in music, Coates' book offers a logical path, staked out by both practical and spiritual advice. Her wisdom, encouragement, and occasional caution make sense of an industry that merges ministry and music in an uneasy balance.

This book has been a real eye opener for me, being that i am a new artist in the industry. What i realize is that this journey is not for the slothful, this journey is for the will at heart and for the calling. Very good book!!!
