The Worst of the Worst,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Beginner's Windows Server 2003 on DVD (DVD)
This has got to be the worst CBT on the planet. It really is 99% of some goofy looking guy talking out of his you know what. He stutters throughout the video, and like one of the previous reviewers said, they didn't even bother to edit out the bad takes. He pauses for about 10 seconds when he gets tongue-tied and can't spit out the term "Windows Server 2003". In the first chapter he says something like, "Windows 2000 (pause)...I mean Windows Server 2000. Hold on (long pause). OK, let me start all over again." He doesn't even show a bulleted Powerpoint slide until something like the 3rd chapter. Not only is this NOT professionally edited, but it also bored me to tears. Save your money, do not buy this. I know it's very inexpensive, but you get what you pay for. If you want quality instructional video, get Learnkey or CBT nuggets.

This DVD covered very good topics for a beginning network professional, but, unfortunately was overshadowed by the poor video editing.

Server 2003 DVD a Total Waste,
This review is from: Beginner's Windows Server 2003 on DVD (DVD)
This is possibly the poorest and most disappointing training DVD ever. It is 99.9% talking head with few graphics. They didn't even bother to edit out bad takes. DVD navigation is amateur at best. As a major user of training DVDs to learn programs such as PhotoShop and others, I am quite familiar with DVD training pieces. This is absolutely worse than I ever could have imagined and totally useless. Save your money and buy a book to learn this material. Avoid this companies future products as they obviously have no clue what they are doing.

What a horrible DVD! It was poorly made and was not planned at all! This is the worst tech DVD I have ever seen. I could not even get past chapter 2. This DVD makes you want to read a book first. If you are looking for a 2003 server intro for you or someone else I would look else where. I was planning on letting my staff watch this but decided to make a power point instead.

Excellent curriculum material for instructors,
By Tony Cox "Tony Cox" (Saint Paul, MN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Beginner's Windows Server 2003 on DVD (DVD)
This DVD quickly covers the main "How To" topics of Windows Server 2003 and allows the students to grasp concepts on their own time. In class we expand on these topics drilling down deeper to the core. I highly recommend this DVD as a MUST HAVE required training curriculum for a beginner's Windows Server 2003 course. It allows the students to grasp the fundamentals far quicker so that when they leave my class they have a firm knowledge of the basics and enough knowledge of the advanced material to launch themselves into actually practicing what they have learned.
If I could change one thing on the DVD it would be the sound quality. It could be a little better. As far as the content and the "talking head" as mentioned in the othe review I would have to disagree that this takes away from the presentation. I looked for more advanced topics such as Active Directory from DV Press, but it doesn't look like they carry them at this time otherwise I would be a repeat user. |
