5.0 out of 5 stars Required reading for the cosmetic chemist!
This book should be required reading for anyone involved in the scientific side of the cosmetics industry. I would've loved to have had this book when I first started out, and it certainly helped to fill in the gaps that I didn't have in my training as a cosmetic chemist. This book is very easy to read and the study guide is a helpful tool as well.

I think this book is too expensive for the content it delivers. Most of the chapters are just magazine article reprints without any appreciable depth or good insights you can use in practical formulations. Besides, with some crafty internet searching you can get similar information contained in the book for free.

This book contains a wide spectrum of information. but, it is like a dictionary or a guidebook, and it is so boring because of lack of figures.

There is very little chemistry in this book. It is just a collection of articles by various writers, most of which are non-technical. I wasted my money on this. Do not buy.

I think the book helped me so much in doing my job as a Project Manager in a Cosmetic Industry. This book helped me speaks more chemistry languanges..

So, for the negative reviewers: As the title said, it's BEGINNING COSMETIC CHEMISTRY, and not "Advanced Cosmetic Chemistry". I guess the book serves its purpose and gave me the information/direction of what I need to do. It doesnt have heavy chemistry (which I did not expect) since I am not planning to be a chemist at all.

I guess it depends on what you're looking to get out from this book. If you're an experienced cosmetic chemist, I dont think you'll be benefit much. But this is a great resource for somebody like me (minimal chemistry background but have to work with chemists)

I trust the authors did an excellent job putting this book together. And, yes, the price is a bit on the high side. But, most of the books I purchased during my college years also within the range. The good news is this book has a very high resell value. You can purchase the book, read and study it, and sell it back here @ amazon as a used book and get most of your money back.
