This is a very good book for anyone interested in Quigong. This book is very well written in plain and easy to understand language. The divisions in the book are natural and allow you to progress at your leisure. The illustrations are very clear and go hand in hand with the instructions. I would recommend this book, and as a matter of fact,I have to anyone that has a willingness to learn the beginnings of Quigong.

Great Book, Helpful Content,

This review is from: Beginning Qigong (Paperback)
This little book was among my first Qi Gong books, and is still one of my favorites. It presents the reader with a clear set of instructions followed by simple illustrations. The authors did a great job presenting the information in as simple and comprehensive a manner as possible.
Among the exercises presented within the book, is the Dan Tien filling exercise, which will MONUMENTALLY improve your breathing capacity, as well as your ability to relax the whole body. The section on the Yijin Jing in itself is worth the cover price. This has helped my flexibility, tendons, and joint pains. In grappling arts such as Jiu Jitsu, this will give you a very distinct advantage. A very valuable Qi Gong set. The 13 Grand Life Preservers, is an interesting set, and is easy for the elderly to follow. It's one of my favorite ways to cool down after an intense workout, as I find that it really helps me relax. There are several other sections which you might find useful, but the bottom line is, this is a great book for a beginner, or someone looking to expand their Qi Gong knowlege base. Highly recommended.

Qigong that really works,

You can read Qigong books until you're blue in the face because there are so many, but if you only read 1 book, this should be the book.
It would probably be worth your time and money to invest in an instructor to show you just how it works, but in the event that it is inconvenient, I highly recommend you get a video series called, "Understanding Qigong" by Dr. Yang Jwing-Ming. It is a 10 DVD series found here on Amazon.com and is really worth having because of the scope he goes into. After watching the video series and reading the above book, your smarts about how Qigong works and how to do it will definitely make a quantum leap. You won't need and instructor at that point. I am giving this book a 5 star rating because after reading several Qigong books, I found this one to be the most readable and applicable for someone just trying to get a grasp on the basics. Most definitely get the DVD series by Dr. Yang stated above though as it will really fill in the gaps, and personally speaking he is just a very interesting person to listen to. His knowledge on every subject surrounding Qigong, especially in relation to health and martial arts is off the charts. Link to "Understanding Qigong" below. I sincerely believe these two things will bring much stress relief, happiness, and a clearer vision of how and why we should be doing these things on a daily basis. The best part is all of it is easy to understand and do. You can do it walking around or even while interacting with other people and they won't even know you're performing Qigong breathing, yet it will enhance every aspect of your life all at the same time.
