About the Author

Göran Husman is a true computer nerd who started his career as a computer programmer in 1978. After working as a C and Fortran developer for a medical university and later a large telecom company, he started his own consulting company in 1989. Due to market demands he soon switched his focus from Unix to the MS environment and from developing code to implementing large e-mail systems and building information systems. Göran has also been hired as a computer trainer since the beginning of 1980. In 1993 he became one of the first certified MS Certified Trainers (MCT) in Sweden, and he has regularly conducted MS courses ever since. He is also certified by MS as an MCP (with the number 2888) and an MSCE. His great engagement in e-mail systems awarded him status as Sweden’s first MS Exchange MVP (Most Valuable Professional) by Microsoft. He switched focus to MS SharePoint in 2003, and in January 2006 Microsoft awarded him status as Sweden’s first SharePoint Portal Server MVP. Göran has written a large number of training materials for the Swedish market over the years, and in 2001 his book Exchange 2000 Server on Site was released in the U.S. He is also frequently a speaker in conferences and seminars. Today Göran is dividing his time between consulting contracts, training, leading his company Human Data, and from time to time writing books. Oh, and he is also the proud father of six great kids from the ages of 5 to 27, which may be his greatest achievement in life.

4.0 out of 5 stars SharePoint 2003 ONLY!, February 13, 2007

This review is from: Beginning SharePoint Administration: Windows SharePoint Services and SharePoint Portal Server (Wrox Beginning Guides) (Paperback)
Well written with many useful illustrations. However, it is for SharePoint 2003, NOT 2007! Although there is a short chapter in the back about new 2007 features, the author is currently working on a 2007 version of this book, which apparently hasn't been published quite yet.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Beginning SharePoint Administration: Windows SharePoint Services and SharePoint Portal Server (Wrox Beginning Guides) (Paperback)
I recommend this book to anyone who is looking to deploy SharePoint and needs to start from scratch and understand architecture of it. The author did a great job explaining and giving all the tools needed to design and deploy SharePoint successfully. Very easy read and I love the fact that author uses humor in his book makes it easier to read. This is the only book you really need to design, architect and deploy SharePoint. I have done it with great success. Two thumps up!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Introduction to the Software, November 19, 2006
This review is from: Beginning SharePoint Administration: Windows SharePoint Services and SharePoint Portal Server (Wrox Beginning Guides) (Paperback)
SharePoint has been a product growing at Microsoft for several years. As is often the case, now in what is basically its third generation it is finally reaching an extremely useful stage.

This book is written by an expert in the Software that has been working as a trainer in the SharePoint for four years. It begins with a basic introduction to the software and follows this with detailed installation instructions.

With a working SharePoint the following chapters each take on one aspect of the software. These can be used independently or studied in sequence to provide an overall insight into the software and what it can do. Finally, in the last chapter he goes on to discuss the changes that will come in SharePoint 2007.
