Is This the Beginning Of All Sorrows?,
By Harvey Willis (Louisville, Kentucky(USA)) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Beginning of Sorrows (The Omega Trilogy, Book 1) (Paperback)
This book is for lovers of Christian science-fiction with cliff-hanging ending. What is the beginning of sorrows? Who knows? It can possibly be during the tribution period(a time of great sorrow)or some other great disater. The book is unclear in some areas but is mainly these authours look into the future of America. After reading this book one wonders is these really what America is going to become. A nation filled with drugs, violence and prostiution. Hopeful not. If you like suspensefull endings then you will like this book. The first of the Omega Trilogy. It left me sitting on the edge of my seat wondering what they where talking about and what is going to happen next. This book overall is a succesful contribution to the world of Christian literature from Gilbert Morris and his two children Lynn and Alan.

A Non Preachy Novel That Is Built For The Edge of Your Seat,
By
This review is from: The Beginning of Sorrows (The Omega Trilogy, Book 1) (Paperback)
Gilbert Morris and his writing partners have created a real-feeling atmosphere for this novel. They introduce genetically engineered humans without typical science fiction techno-speak, keeping to an intelligent prose without losing us in DNA babble. The characters are by and large normals, not GEH's; They have adult relationships, not guilt-ridden regrets or sudden ephipinies of spiritual insight. I really like these genuine people type characters, and the Morris clan develops them with purpose. The people in power are weird enough to be completely believable, in light of Modern politics and Media creation madness. The military technology is fascinating and the soldiers hit the mark dead center bullseye. As events develop you will begin to read faster, hungry for every word. The storyline is familiar, but the telling is what makes the thing. I found myself reminded at times of Frank Herbert's weird HELLSTROMS HIVE; and at others, Stephen King's THE STAND. Make no mistake, though, This is part one of a trilogy by Gilbert Morris and Co. I will hold on to my copies of these works and continue to recommend them with confidence to my Christian and Non-Christian friends. Keep them coming, friend Gilbert.

Slow going at first, but don't be deceived!,

This review is from: The Beginning of Sorrows (The Omega Trilogy, Book 1) (Paperback)
This book opens very slowly, but when the action begins, it doesn't stop. You then realize that the opening of the book is needed to balance the pace of the latter part. The characters are strong, complex, and believable; the writing is an unusual style, but evolves nicely. I have thoroughly enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it, especially to fans of the Left Behind series.

Great Reading !!! But feel Betrayed,
By Linda Unruh (Oklahoma, United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Beginning of Sorrows (The Omega Trilogy, Book 1) (Paperback)
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading both books in this series - Book 1: The Beginning of Sorrows and Book 2: Fallen Stars, Bitter Waters. The characters are wonderful and well written. I have been politley harrassing the neighborhood bookstores in search of the third in the trilogy. Only now to find out that the publishers are betraying their readers by deciding to not release the final book. I think it is dispicable on the part of the publishers for not releasing the third and final book of this trilogy. With the End Times seeming to be looming before us even more now than ever, I would hope that the publishers and authors of end times novels would realize the overwhelming interest in God inspiring literature, and realize the reponsibility that they have to readers that are seeking inspiration and answers to their own questions about God's love.

Great Visionary!,

This review is from: The Beginning of Sorrows (The Omega Trilogy, Book 1) (Paperback)
This book was a little difficult to follow at first. However, once I was entraped it was difficult to put down. The fact that these things could really happen is frightening. It makes me thankful to be a Christian and know that God is still ultimately in control.

Incredible Story...Evil Publishers,
By Sarita Gandy (Valencia, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Beginning of Sorrows (The Omega Trilogy, Book 1) (Paperback)
I should just warn you right now that I could NOT stand Left Behind. The writing was just...well...bad (in my opinion, at least). However, the Omega Trilogy--at least the first 2 books--are incredibly well written and engaging. The character development is real and the flawed characters are easy to relate to. I love that there are so many perspectives in this novel and, though the flip-flopping of point of view is a bit confusing at first, it becomes all the more moving by the end of the novel. The beginning is kind of slow, but it is setting up for an impressive second half of the book.Unfortunately for us, the third book will not be published--an awful thing to do to those of us who have discovered this amazing series. Presumably, the first two books did not sell enough copies for the publishers and so they pulled the third--a crime in my opnion. Thus, the second book just, sort of, ends. HOwever, I still find myself returning to this book for its intelligent plot and its outstanding writing.

This Is A Great Book, But,,
By
This review is from: The Beginning of Sorrows (The Omega Trilogy, Book 1) (Paperback)
This book and the second book in this Omega Trilogy are very good christian books. There's just one big problem, you can't get the third book because it was cancelled. I don't know why the Morris' decided to do this, but I don't think anyone should be selling the first two without telling everyone about the third.

Captivating! Can't wait to read the next one!,

This review is from: The Beginning of Sorrows (The Omega Trilogy, Book 1) (Paperback)
I read this book in less than 2 days. I just couldn't put it down! I had to know what was going to happen to the characters. There is a lot of detail to the plot. So much so sometimes it's a drawback to the plot. There are many, many characters to keep track of, which can be difficult at times. However, it's well worth it. I could easily see the real-life plausibility of the story line: the environmentalits, the realiance on thechnology, the downsizing of the military. This is one of the things that made the book so good. The other thing that makes this book good is that the reader gets some biblical information to back up the plot and the characters. It's not just "science-fiction" and it's not just blither...and it's not preachy. The book let's anyone see that it could happen to them, even without the Christian element of the story. I have already purchased the second book of the trilogy, "Fallen Stars, Bitter Water" and I can't wait until the final book, "Seven Golden Vials" is released!

An unusual twist on End Times Fiction!,
By
This review is from: The Beginning of Sorrows (The Omega Trilogy, Book 1) (Paperback)
I highly recommend this book and it's 2nd part, Fallen Stars, Bitter Waters. These books are a world apart from traditional End Times fiction, such as "Left Behind." If you can get past this author's idea that everyone in the future has a weird and lengthy name, you'll find an engrossing (if complicated) plot and a diverse group of characters. I'm very frustrated by the publisher's decision to NOT publish part three of this trilogy, but I still recommend reading the first two.

Gripping and Engaging Christian Fiction,
By Thomas J. Daniels "joyful worshipper" (Minneapolis, Minnesota United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Beginning of Sorrows: Enmeshed by Evil...How Long Before America is No More (Paperback)
When I read the first two books of The Omega Trilogy years ago, I waited faithfully for the third book to be published. The publisher is being extremely short-sighted in refusing to release the concluding volume. Every year or so, I re-read these books and pray for the publishers to come to their senses and reverse the disservice done to those of us who bought the books expecting that The Omega Trilogy would be just that - a trilogy. But I will nevertheless continue to enjoy the excellent and exciting plot and characters so brilliantly developed by the Gilbert Morris family.
