This is a wonderful story. Happy Sigh ...I Love this series and the two main characters. In Awakenings, the first novel of the I Found My Heart in San Francisco series, we met Ryan O'Flaherty and Jamie Evans, juniors at the University of California at Berkeley.
The two main characters, Jamie and Ryan, are as endearing as they were in the first book (I just can't get enough of them). The author explores them thoroughly so that the reader gets to know them well. This novel is a substantial read to be savoured. Oh My Goodness, this was fun reading. I was completely delighted to see this novel in print. Excellent writing, perfectly paced plot, lovable characters. I was riveted to every page and didn't want to put the book down. I always hold off opening this author's novels until first thing Saturday morning so I can read as much as possible in the next 48 hours. Along with the great plot the humor is laugh out loud funny. The author, who I thought was perfection in her other novels, All That Matters, Cherry Grove and Arbor Vitea just keeps surprising me with one hit novel after another. I am already clamoring for the next novel in this series. I must mention that the quality of the book itself is outstanding from the paper, to the cover to the printing. Terrific cover! This is a Keeper! Don't miss the other novels in this great series: Awakenings Beginnings Coalescence Disclosures Entwined Fidelity Getaway

Ryan and Jamie are introduced in Awakenings, the first book in the I Found My Heart in San Francisco series. I'd suggest reading Book 1 to fully appreciate this couple and their love story but it isn't a requirement. Susan tackles the feelings and anxieties of coming out that every lesbian faces no matter what age she is. Plus she writes a sweet, funny and sexy love story that is appealing to any lover of romance. Buy this one - you won't be disappointed.

I have just started reading the book Beginnings by Susan X Meagher, but I am a fan of her writing in general. I really enjoyed Book #1: Awakenings in this series and couldn't wait to start the 2nd book. My only complaint at this point is the editing of the book itself. I'm wondering who the proofreaders were for this text, as I have already found 3 mistakes in the first four pages of the book. I find that to be very distracting while reading. Overall, however, I have found her books to be very enjoyable. They come highly recommended, if you can ignore all of the typos.

Beginnings tells the story of Jamie & Ryan's courtship & deepening feelings. It's a lovely story. Trust me; any of Susan Meagher's lesbian romances are worth buying.

The writer managed to craft a story of two PEOPLE. None of the unbelievable characters that litter
lesbian fiction. I enjoyed that the main characters were people who had issues and weren't totally "OMG I never thought a sexual thought until X came into my life" characters. The plotting kept my interest. Ryan's exes on the AIDS ride were realistic: some people are fine with you moving on, some get over it after awhile and some stay bitter. Meagher writes this w/o resorting to a stalker sub-plot. The cop scene was too funny -- it happens too. Cassie was one (minor) character I think I have met in real life about two dozen times. LOL! This book comes after Awakenings and before Coalescence. Enjoy! |
