5.0 out of 5 stars A great alternative Christian rock album, September 11, 2005
This review is from: Beginnings (Audio CD)
If your resistant to the influence of modern fashions of musical preference, and you like good Christian music, then you'll love this album! There is a lot of bad music out there, especially Christian music. But this album, completely under-rated as it is, blew me away. The sound is very much a Bon jovi/winger/def lepod style of music, especially def lepod with the excessive amount of background vocals. But that didn't ruin the CD at all. The main vocals are exceptionally powerful and very moving in some of the songs such as accros the miles, about a friendship that ended but how he still thinks about her after all these years, cheesy but great. The guitar work is amazing, each song different, some a lot heavier than others, along with a much needed accompinment of a piano in some of the slower songs. The songs are relevent and encouraging, a lot of them emphasising Gods power, and how difficult life can be sometimes. Some of the songs sometimes sound like they don't quite fit together, but it works either way. This album is full of passion and power and is a must have if your a hair metal fan, Christian or not.

5.0 out of 5 stars CCM meets Def Leppard & Richard Marx, April 18, 2004

Ready for a trip down memory lane? Nouveaux shook CCM with their first release, Beginnings, with a sound that melded Def Leppard with Richard Marx, but with uplifting lyrics! CCM hadn't heard anything like it before and we loved it! The band reinvented itself into an acoustic rock band on its 2nd album, and things haven't been the same since. The irony is, this, their debut album, was by far their best. For fans of CCM (and Def Leppard), this is one comes highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievably underrated, June 14, 2009
This review is from: Beginnings (Audio CD)
This was one of the most underrated Christian albums of all time. Kind of a cross between Def Leppard and Extreme - the type of album not often found in Christian music. Great vocals from all the band members, great music, good variety of songs..It is ashame that on their second album they went a lot more slow, wimpy, and less 80's rockish. I was very disappointed in the second album "This is How I Feel" after hearing "Beginnings". But don't let that stop you from buying the first album - it is one of my favorite Christian CD's.
