5.0 out of 5 stars My Grandfather lived in Earling in 1928

3.0 out of 5 stars IT'S NOT A BOOK- IT'S A PAMPHLET. AND A VERY BAD ONE.
You folks should know that this "book" is really more of a pamphlet. It is only 48 pages long.

I just received it today, and I haven't read it yet. I'm sure it will be as good as everyone says.

It shipped quickly, too.

But you should know that it really isn't a "book" at all, in my opinion. I'm not sure I would have paid this...

My grandfather was in Earling at the time of this exorcism. He was a very devout Catholic and I remember as a child listening to him tell of this event. Of course he didn't actually see the exorcism, but he heard it and smelled it. He said the stench that drifted from the convent was the most horrible odor you could imagine and the people could hear the terrible language that the possessed woman screamed. This was a terrifying event for the people who lived in that town. If you have doubts that the devil exists, hopefully you will begin to believe and live accordingly!

5.0 out of 5 stars mind blowing book, February 10, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Begone Satan (Paperback)
This book is the true story of a woman who was possesed by demons for many years. This is one scary read. What comes through most in this book is the unspeakable hatred the devil has for God. The hatred just leaps off the page. I saw the exorcist, but the real thing as presented in this book is incredible. At the end of the book the priest saw the devil and belezebub for a half hour, with the devil seething with rage at not being able to strangle the exorcist. I hope anyone who doubts the existance of the devil reads this book. It is truly frightening

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly frightning and thought provoking!, July 3, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Begone Satan (Paperback)
The indredible true story of an actual exorcisim performed in Earling Iowa in the 1920's. I recently came arcross this story again in an anthology entitled "Haunted Heartland". The most shocking thing I found in the original story, was the reference to the year 2000. If this book doesn't scare you, nothing will!

This is a good, inexpensive book on exorcism. Even though it is short (it can be read in one afternoon) it covers a lot of important points on the subject. Since it is only one case-study, the book is a little limited since no two cases are exactly the same. But, from what I have researched, the possession covered in Begone Satan! has many of the classic features of that affliction. The only drawback is that it is a translation from German and so the grammar is a little awkward at times. I would highly recommend this work for those wanting to know more about possession and exorcism but do not have either the time or interest to read a longer work on the subject.

I found this a very interesting and facsinating read. I believed it to be very factual and more realistic then some stories that are similar. I would highly recommend this book to anyone with the interest and facination in this type of knowledge. I give it 5 ***** I would even prefer more in depth discriptions of some of the actions of the exorcism. I personally believe these demons do exist and our knowledge of them can help to make you aware, and protect you from doing things such as oujia boards, and such, that could bring havoc into your life.

By A Customer
This review is from: Begone Satan (Paperback)
BEGONE SATAN. Rev. Carl Vogl. 44pp. PB., Impr. Famous 23 day long exorcism case of Erling, Iowa. Incredible and frightening. We have received several letters from Iowa verifying that this exorcism really occurred. Probably the most famous exorcism ever performed in the USA.

5.0 out of 5 stars VERY SCARY,THANK GOD IT'S NOT ME., October 29, 2007
This review is from: Begone Satan (Paperback)
A short book, with only 48 pages but it says alot.Every word and sentence pulls you in,I can't imagine being the one under the devil's spell. After finishing this book,I found myself still thinking about certain parts in it days later. To tell the truth I found this book very real and very scary,I still find it unbelieveable when I hear someone say that they don't believe in heaven or hell,God or the devil. This would be the book for them to read,it gets right to the point.

This booklet is only 48 pages so I was able to read it in about an hour. As a Catholic it was amazing to read about the not-so-talked-about power of exorcism. This is a true story and gives you a glimpse of evil that will send chills up your spine and have you running to confession! You will also understand the power of heaven and it's saints and angels. Good read!

5.0 out of 5 stars A STORY SIMILAR TO THE MOVIE, THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE, September 16, 2005
By
R. M. Villegas (Southern California, USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Begone Satan (Paperback)
The movie, The Exorcism of Emily Rose was based on a true story of a German girl possessed by six demons: the demons that possessed Cain, Judas Iscariot, Nero, and Legion. Fifth demon's name was Belial and the last sixth was Lucifer (Satan himself).

The story of Begone Satan is similar because both of Emily Rose and the other girl in the book were possessed by the devils and were approved as authentic and real by the Catholic Church.

Like Emily Rose, the girl in the book was a very religious pious young girl from Iowa. The difference between Emily Rose, the girl was possessed because her father cursed her to be damned in Hell. She was possessed by numerous demons, including Judas Iscariot.

The priest who exorcised the girl from Iowa was shocked to discover tricks and evils of the Devil.

This book is not for readers to be entertained, but rather to be informed about the reality and truths of exorcism.

5.0 out of 5 stars Begone Satan, March 6, 2008
This review is from: Begone Satan (Paperback)
A very interesting and slightly disturbing tale of a true 23-day exorcism in the state of Illinois. It provides insight into the dark world of Satan, the inner workings of demons, and the faith of the Church and importance of unity within the community in regards to the Church.
