Loved it!!,

This review is from: Beguiled (Arabesque) (Paperback)
I liked this book. The fact that the action does not center around a major industrial city makes you know the characters more intimately. The characters were well written. They are not stick figures but real human beings with flaws. I recommend this book, not only for the plot but for the beautiful and colorful descriptions of the people and places.

Enchanting!,

I was so entranced by 'Beguiled' that I decided that I just had to share it with everyone else. Unfortunately, the first person I lent it to loved it more than I did... she kept it!'Beguiled' stands out within its genre because of its exotic location, its wonderfully drawn characters, (especially its secondary characters), its refreshing plot and its originality. As a West Indian, I can relate to the cultural and geographical details, which are superb, and its melding of the spiritual and the sensuous was breathtaking. It's well worth buying!

Not for me...,

"Beguiled" tells the story of Raquel who loses her job and decides to go dancing at a Miami nightclub ?!? I guess she wants to dance her troubles away. Instead she ends up being swept into a totally unrealistic adventure that drifts from the Caribbean to Central America. This story includes Snoe's trademark foray into otherworldly, magical scenarios. All in all just not my cup of tea...

I loved this book so much I had to purchase it again. Foolishly I loaned out my autographed copy to a family member who has misplaced it. After nagging for years for its return, I bought another copy to revisit. I fell in love all over again. My only regret is that it is not an autographed copy. I'll never make that mistake again.

This was my first time reading this author. I was so pleased that I did not want the story to end. There twist, that were not expected. She put spice in the book and Nate was a dream.

Not bad, if you can get past the silly stuff.,

I gotta tell you, if I'd lost my job and was wondering what I'd do to pay the bills... well, dancing is not where I'd go.Actually, once you get past that (and it takes a while) the fantasy of the handsome, protective man was not at all bad. Snoe does draw an exotic world for us. But, I have to complain that whenever her plot grows thin, she results to magic. Deus ex machina? Give us a break! |
