More About the Author

VICTORIA GORDON is the muse and pseudonym for novelist and editor Gordon Aalborg, who is generally considered to be the FIRST MALE AUTHOR TO FIND A STALL IN THE HARLEQUIN STABLE OF ROMANCE WRITERS.

Back in the day, he was told by his editor to "keep your head down, your mouth shut and remember you don't exist" -- because Harlequin policy at the time was to claim that no man could write Harlequin-specific category romance. Gordon did it twenty times, and has followed up with other romances, including WOLF IN TIGER'S STRIPES and FINDING BESS.

These and Victoria Gordon's 20 classic Harlequin romances are now available ONLY ON KINDLE.

As himself, Gordon is the author of the western romance THE HORSE TAMER'S CHALLENGE and the Tasmanian-oriented Five Star suspense thrillers THE SPECIALIST (2004) and DINING WITH DEVILS(2009) as well as the popular feral cat survival epic CAT TRACKS. All are available on Kindle.

Born in Canada, Aalborg spent half his life in Australia, mostly in Tasmania, and now lives on Vancouver Island, in Canada, with his wife, the mystery and romance author Denise Dietz.

5.0 out of 5 stars I was dazzled, January 17, 2012
This is my favourite Victoria Gordon book. Others have described the story, so let me just add that I loved, loved, loved the dog.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not all that bad - grin, August 27, 2001

Devon and Colleen carry on a getting to know one another flirtation through their answering machines - never thought of that one! - because of their complexity and odd work schedules the answering machines, "Ingatious" and "Freda?", add just a touch of appreciated humor -- I feel that I was getting to know the quirks of these characters and could appreciate their problems with each other -- the dog was a nice touch -- not bad for this style of book -- one I call a fast read -- but as usual they end [very delicately put] up in bed.

1.0 out of 5 stars :(, May 29, 2001
Colleen Ferrar has several pieces of rare wood that belonged to her father who always wanted to make something wonderful out of them, but he knew that he did not have the talent to do them justice. His birthday was coming up and Colleen wanted to surprise him by having the famous artist Devon Burns create something wonderful out of the wood for her father.

Devon is a odd character who usually hates doing pieces for others. He finally agrees because he wants to work with the wood and because he wants Colleen to pose nude for him for another piece that he is working on. Colleen agrees and it is more or less a slow seduction from there.

This was an odd story. Colleen and Devon both name their answering machines and let them have conversations with each other (no I am not kidding). They get dressed up to got out to eat and to the theater, only they end up eating at an ice cream parlor in their fancy evening clothes. And we never do find out what Devon creates with the wood that was the whole purpose of them coming together. Very strange story! I am not even sure what the underlying point of it was, so giving a review that makes sense from a story that made no sense is pretty difficult.
