About the Author

Alison Seiffer's illustrations appear regularly in the New York Times, Glamour, and Newsweek.

Karen Salmansohn is the author of the bestselling How to Make Your Man Behave ... and How to Be Happy, Dammit. She is a relationship expert for MSN.com and Match.com, and hosts her own daily radio show, "How to Be Happy, Dammit" on Sirius. She lives in New York City.

More About the Author

Karen Salmansohn (http://notsalmon.com/) is a best selling author and award winning designer - with over 1 million books sold - who is passionate about empowering people to live their happiest, highest potential lives. She's known for creating a new breed of self help - for people who would never be caught dead doing self help - because she merges a range of psychological and philosophical research with humor and stylish graphics.

Some popular titles: HOW TO BE HAPPY DAMMIT, ENOUGH DAMMIT, THE BOUNCE BACK BOOK, PRINCE HARMING SYNDROME, and INSTANT HAPPY.

She's been a featured happiness expert on The Today Show, The View, CNN, Fox News, Bill Maher's show - and is also a columnist for Oprah, Psychology Today, CNN, MSN, Yahoo, AOL, Match, Huffingtonpost - and then some. She's been raved about in such media entities as: The N.Y. Times, Business Week, Chicago Tribune, L.A. Times, Philadelphia Inquirer, Time Magazine, Marie Claire, Fast Company, InStyle, Self, ELLE, New Yorker, etc She's also an in demand keynote speaker on how to increase happiness, creativity, productivity, stick-to-itiveness, and bouncing back from hard times. She gave a TEDx talk on the topic of "Fun Is A High Performance Fuel."

Karen's also the founder of notsalmon.com - a highly popular inspirational site! She calls her site notsalmon - because everyone's always mispronouncing her last name as Salmon - saying Karen SALMON-sohn instead of SALMAN-sohn. So she's always saying NOT-SALMON. She figured it was easier for people to find her on the internet if her site were simply NOT-SALMON.com

She's also known for her viral "Inspirational Flashcard" posters - which have attracted about 200,000 fans on Facebook! She's a big believer that a "spoonful of eye candy helps the self-help medicine go down" - thereby most of her books include playful and kinetic design, which she creative directs. (Her Bounce Back Book even has a symbolic snazzy red rubber cover!)

Some quirky insider info: Karen's shared man-taming tips with Madonna. She's swapped book writing tips with Goldie Hawn, Deepak Chopra and Peter Guber. She's had her novel optioned by Marissa Tomei and Miramax. She's enjoyed seeing her work featured by Julian Lennon and Eminem - without her ever sending it them! Plus Jon Stewart has read and loved her writing - and specifically told her how much he loves her humor in her writing. He even committed to saying so in an official blurb: : "Karen Salmansohn has the spirit and sass of a stand up comic." This makes Karen one of the few (and most likely ONLY!) inspirational authors with Jon-Stewart-approved humor!

You know what, maybe I will write a book like this, but about women.

I bought this as a humorous gift for a bridal shower. However, after reading it, I didn't feel comfortable giving it as a gift. The drawings are cute but the advice is simplistic and a little demeaning to men and women. I get that it is supposed to be funny but it didn't hit the mark for me.

I read this book after reading an article in News week discussing the authors views on behavior modification for men. I do not write reviews, but I was very disappointed and upset while reading the damaging instructions that are given in this text. If you value yourself and the men in your life you will not perpetuate or endorse the outrageous thinking and behavior this book employed. I am ashamed of myself for purchasing the book. I thought surely it would be written in fun and not as a manual to alter a man's character. It should not need to be said, but I feel it needs to be, women should treat men with respect and value who they are and not change them. Woman who feel justified in manipulating men to act a certain way are controlling and devalue the relationships between men and woman. The instructions detailed in this text are irresponsible and demeaning to both genders. A man should be loved and celebrated for who he is and not be forced to change. If a woman is not happy with a man than she needs to leave the relationship and work on making herself happy. The only person any individual can change is themselves. It takes a lifetime to create yourself and work on behaviors, beliefs, and choices that need to be adjusted and revised to make yourself happy and healthy. Each person should focus on the work they need to do on themselves to be a better person instead of focusing on changing others. It is very narcissistic for any person to try to impose their will on another. No one needs to compromise who they are to satisfy anyone else. Everyone has the right to be who they are and choose to live the life they want that makes them happy.Read more ›

This book is simply mass market pandering to women. It's massively sexist and downright pathetic. If you replaced "Man" in the title, with "Woman", I can guarantee there would be a massive outrage by hypocritical feminists and a lot of women. You know what, maybe I will write a book like this, but about women. See how many jimmies I can rustle.

I'm getting my wife this for Christmas. I saw it on someone's shelf and flipped through it and laughed.
It's a small, short book that spoofs a dog training manual by substituting "man" for "dog". I didn't spend a
single second taking it seriously; my wife won't either.
Worth the price of a whopping nine bucks just to make my wife laugh.

If you want a serious self help book to help you over a break up, this isn't it.
If you want to seriously laugh your hiney off, nab this book!
I got this book as a gift, after a particularly nasty break up had left me quite down in the dumps. I read it, and laughed myself silly!
With slick artwork, and smart and funny one liners, this book is a total joy for anyone who's had man problems. The comparisons of men to dogs is so uncanny it's truly funny.
My favorite? The bit where it quips: "if your dog runs away, do not chase after it, it will only make him run faster, instead, dangle a colorful plaything in his face, he will come running back". The illustration to this one liner is a woman dangling a colorful piece of lingerie in a man's face.
As I said, serious self help it's not, but you know what they say, laugher is the best medicine. Read this book, especially with a best girlfriend, laugh yourself silly, and cheer up.
Men are like buses, another will be by in fifteen minutes.

This book is a wonderful dramatization of all that Mars/Venus, battle-of-the-sexes, alleged-hopelessness-of-relationships stuff. Read it, laugh, maybe get just a tiny bit more insight into this stuff, and whatever you do, don't take it too seriously. Ever heard of stand-up comedy? Well, this is a stand-up book.

You don't have go deeper that cover of this book to see how despicable author and ideas in this book are. Yes, it is a sad attempt at satire and humor, but certain things are offensive no matter in how colorful package you wrap them in.

I'm 110% sure that this book would suffer a terrible outcry and call for lynch if you would replace word "Men" with word "Women". Probably one of notable news anchors or show hosts ladies would spit all over book in prime time but since it is about men, that makes it okay, right? No, it doesn't.

This book and it's terrible attempt at humor (whatever) is not something to accept lightly. I think of myself as very openminded individual but this book just pushes that tolerance too far. This book shouldn't be burned - no, it should be buried deep - if nothing else, to use it as a fertilizer.

This book is sooo funny, and so true. Don't let your guy see it. It will most likely make him mad. Fun.
