2.0 out of 5 stars Worth reading
Having said that this is worth reading, then giving it only two stars reflects my mixed feelings about this and other of Machaelle Small Wright's writings. There are LARGE chunks of this book that are repeated *verbatim* in *several* of her other works, including the Perelandra Workbooks. I bought all these books to find out as much as I could about what she is doing...

5.0 out of 5 stars What an inspiration..., June 16, 2000
I had *just* finished this author's book on flower essences (another 5-star one in my opinion, though I haven't gotten to writing that review yet), when I felt drawn to reading her personal story. And what a story it is!

Watching her grow from introspective, imaginative child to "how in the world did she survive all that? " teen, to awe-inspiring woman of nature, Machaelle Small Wright takes you on a spiritual journey you will not soon forget. And she does it with wonderful self-effacing humor and a down-to-earth grittiness that draws you toward her, rather than dismissing her as someone unusual. She states we ALL have this potential within us, and I'm prone to believe her (from my own experiences.)

So if you are interested in how to live more in harmony with our world, period, or just like reading a good story--this book has it...Get it. Read it. And never be the same (in a GOOD way! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars We need more books like this, September 10, 2001

I don't want to give anything away but after reading this book, I can only conclude that Machaelle Wright is an extraordinary human who, though she has experienced true hardship, has found an astonishing relationship with nature and the universe. She is thoughtful and spiritual, and nobody's fool! As for her work with nature, she proves that insects are not "pests" but vitally essential to life on Earth and gives a viable alternative to killing or using chemicals to reduce the insect or animal population, an alternative that I have adopted with success! This book has transformed my relationship with the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars What's this crap about fairies indeed!!!, August 31, 1999

Oh my goodness, if you think this is a book just about fairies, or gardening, think again. Actually just get the book, it'll knock your socks off regarding your reality re Nature.. hint.. It's all Nature.. asphalt, polyester, living in Manhattan.. This book will inspire you to reconnect to your roots (ha ha) by redefining the world we live in. MSW's 20 yrs plus contribution to this planet as a co-creative researcher/scientist/gardener is one of the most useful, brilliant, radical, yet seemingly normal tools that you could have to make your life more livable, enjoyable. This book will shift your reality indeed, for the better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Step In the Right direction, February 22, 2006
By
GixxxerKim (Long Island, NY USA) - See all my reviews
I expected another great book about nature's ability to communicate with life forms in more ways than we expect. Instead I got MORE! Influencing each other in ways once couldn't imagine, this book builds past the works of even Michael Roads (author of great works like Journey Into Nature). It is almost too advanced for me just now, but a book I will definitely go back to again and again.

Reads like a story (because it is) then builds. Another one to put in my top 10 best books, which I'll have to extend to top 20 soon!

5.0 out of 5 stars Behaving As If the God in All Life Mattered, October 23, 2000
By A Customer
Excellent, excellent book. Well written, true account of one person's growing up under exceeding adverse conditions - surviving it, and discovering that there is more to 'life' than what she had been taught by the two-leggeds in her life. A courageous lady - saying her story - and venturing into realms that are not 'ordinary' or 'normal' but very very Natural. :-)

This is a must read for everyone who values life, ALL life, and it's relationship to the universe. It will change your perspective on everything and you will never look at nature the same way again. Kudos to Machaelle Small Wright for bringing this information to us at such a crucial time in the history of the earth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, September 18, 1998
By A Customer
I knew it was all true when I was a small child. Yet, my senses dulled as I got older and I forgot what was once "second nature." If you have any doubts about "the smalls," or "fairies," or "gnomes," read this book. It will all become very real again. Against all odds, Machaelle Small Wright proves miracles do occur.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Introduction, August 24, 2004
By
barry "barry" (St. Loius, MO USA) - See all my reviews
I found this an excellent book because the author puts her money where her mouth is. She explains where she comes from and how she got where she is as part of the full story of her percpetion of the Universe. I also use her flower essences that are based on her farm and concepts and they seem to be helping to expand my life. The depth and thoroughness of her approach, along with the emphasis on balance and humility instead of right-wrong and arrogance, supports the accuracy of her perception. It is an excellent introduction to a wider understanding of Life and the Universe.

5.0 out of 5 stars When you're ready, it's a journey you cannot miss!, October 6, 2005
A down-to-earth and simplistic account of valuable insights shed on the relationship between humans and nature and how humans can interact with nature and/or the spiritual realms to bring about profound changes to the quality of human life. What a blessing life can be just so much easier if only we're willing to make it so!

I have to say though this isn't a book for everyone, I definitely did not feel ready until having worked with MAP after reading her other book "MAP: Co-creative white brotherhood..". Nonetheless, I would not say this for others. But as Machaelle says, if you're drawn to the book then there must be some part of your soul that will find wonders with it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Machaelle helps remind us of what life could be like., April 4, 2000
Machaelle writes openly of her life and her experiences. This book is invaluable in understanding why it is so important to honor life on this planet. To share that honor with all that exists. For too long we have dominated the planet with no concern for the animal & mineral kingdoms, but this book reminds us of the power of growing and living consciously. It is a must for all who want to live more in touch with this planet we live on..
