About the Author

Sandra S. Sundel is Executive Director of Jewish Family Service of Broward County, Florida. She was formerly a professor of social work at Florida Atlantic University. She has taught courses in social work practice, behavior therapy, interpersonal communication, and group work, and has conducted numerous workshops and seminars on these topics. She has consulted with corporations, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations on organizational behavior management and interpersonal communication in the workplace. She is coauthor of Be Assertive and Women at Midlife, and has published many book chapters and journal articles. She specializes in behavior therapy with women and families.



Martin Sundel, President of Sundel Consulting Group, is a behavior change consultant and practitioner. He is a Charter Clinical Fellow of the Behavior Therapy and Research Society. He was the Dulak Professor at the University of Texas at Arlington, and also served on the faculties of The University of Michigan, The University of Louisville, and Florida International University. He holds professional degrees in social work and psychology from the University of Michigan and was a postdoctoral fellow at the Laboratory of Community Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. He has published extensively on the application of behavioral science knowledge to the helping professions. His publication credits include Be Assertive, Assessing Health and Human Service Needs, Individual Change Through Small Groups (2nd edition), Midlife Myths, and Women at Midlife.
