Behind Bars is like listening to your good friend tell slice of life stories in a small party setting. You feel that you are living in Mike s shoes the entire trip, and are privileged to share the travel adventure, even though some parts make you cringe, others make you blush... ! --Jo Gordon, The Arizona Bologna

I laughed, I cried...hey, wait a minute, I wrote it! --The Author

About the Author
Mike has travelled to over 30 countries, including communist East Berlin in the former East Germany, and Czechoslovakia in high school. This 1982 trip planted a nomadic seed in his head which has seen a yearning for multiple trips afar each year, until long adventure trips overtake better judgment. In 1995, Mike quit his white collar job, leased out his house out to his ex-girlfriend, and took off with a backpack and a friend for eight months. With the advent of the internet in the late 90 s, his travel postcards became mass emails. The response to his honest and humorous observations were well received, and people he did not know who had been forwarded his writings, asked to be on the list. Too many people suggested that he should write for a living, so he considered it. In 2002, upon his MBA graduation, Mike headed south intent on writing Behind Bars in Mexico: Handle Bars, Strip Bars, and Cantina Bars. Mike is revisiting previous writings from his '95-'96 travels, which were extremely raw and revealing, and editing it for mass consumption - barely. Even though Letting it All Hang Out occurred some six years before Behind Bars, it will be released after Behind Bars rolls out. Mike is also working on a travel documentary involving off road motorcycling.
