June goes deeper to the significance of stuff and thoughts your life is made of.
The emotions attached to items and how stuff can help move one forward or anchor and hold you back.
The author bases her system on TruthLoveMeaningPurpose
She addresses our thoughts and even fears, including fear of making wrong decisions.
She defines the cost of an item or even a bargain in not only the financial valuation but also the commitment of time and space it takes.
Included are exercises and a challenge to help you better understand how you relate to your stuff and how it serves or hinders your life.
One of the best ideas she writes about is to consider your physical space as an extension of yourself and your personality.
Deal with things NOW, you don't have any other time, use your things daily,
don't wait for "special" times.
I did get a free Netgalley copy in exchange for my own opinion.
But don’t let June’s conversational style fool you – she is a wise and seasoned professional who knows of what she speaks. I’m also a professional organizer, with over a decade of experience, so I didn’t think I had much decluttering to do. But much to my surprise, the book led me to have a big a-ha moment of my own – the kind I see my own clients have all the time. I’m decluttering an aspect of my life I never even considered clearing before – and I realize now that it’s exactly what’s been keeping me from opening up and attracting certain opportunities. If June can do this for me, imagine what she can do it for you.
Her insightful questions hold up a mirror and cause you to dig deep for answers. And because she’s not afraid to tell you her truth, you find the courage to seek and express your own truth. Read this book. It will not only help you declutter every aspect of your life, it will truly change your life in a powerful, positive way. I’m recommending it to all my clients!
It is definitely a must read book!
In Behind the Clutter: Truth. Love. Meaning. Purpose June asks her readers if they are “‘truthful’ to themselves, do they love it now, does it have meaning for them and is it still serving a purpose.” These simple yet poignant questions prepare you for the meat of the book which focuses on the view you have of yourself and how to begin developing a more positive mind-set using quizzes and unique activities fashioned to be lessons in vulnerability.
The events of our lifetimes can and do shape our futures. To understand the “stuff” which can lead to a cluttered life manifesting itself in physical disorder, June guides us through a series of exercises designed to navigate those perplexities and embrace sustainable, transformative change. Her program is a very useful framework, easily adaptable for hurts large or small, old or recent, personal or work related.Read more ›
"Behind the Clutter" is an easy read. As I read each section, I felt like I was actually sitting with June over a cup of tea - chatting about the issues and concerns that were brought to the surface thorough the pages of the book.
I claim to be a very organized person. In fact many people in my life come to me for guidance and assistance in organizing. Some often make fun of me and the way I know where everything I own is "housed". Reading "Behind the Clutter" was revitalizing and refreshing. It assisted me, an already organized person, in recharging and refining my own skills and taking a deeper look at the clutter within! I highly recommend this book to all. Whether or not you or already organized or have never been organized - READ "Behind the Clutter" and flush all of that clutter out of your life!
