Oh,what a tangled web......,
By BeeCee (Ft Worth,Tx) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Behind a Mask, or A Woman's Power (mobi) (Kindle Edition)
This was a surprising read for me; like the first reviewer, I was unaware that Alcott ever wrote this type of story. I found it fascinating that the story premise was timeless....human nature being what it is. Early on, you know what the central character is up to, but you are lured along to see both how it's done and will the various deceptions work.....will Jean ever get tripped up in the cruel mess of that tangled web she keeps weaving? Her deception is not without aim, but just where is it aimed? You believe you know, but then it takes another direction.
It was a pleasant satisfying read and a happy find that I recommend to other chic lit/women's classics readers. If there were half stars, I would probably give it 3 & 1/2 stars, but 3 is too low. |
