Yes I grew up going to church hearing and learning all of the stories. You can only get so close to these stories. I did not live in the time of Jesus' ministry, so imagine how amazing it would be to actually experience the culture, the Sermon on the Mount. What Gerald Lund does is he takes history and throws in a family or two to experience the situations. In the front and back there are drawings of what the actual cities would have looked like back then. At the end of each chapter there is a brief explanation of what was the authors' rendition and what is actual facts and where you can find them. I learned so much about the different cultures. This series brought me closer to my Savior, Jesus Christ. And has changed the way I think about most things.

I had the privilege of meeting the author and hearing him speak. Although he is a learned man, he is also very humble and genuine. I had the chance to thank him for writing this series and his answer was that it held a special place in his heart also.

I just loved this series. Book three is by far the best. This book gives you and new insight on the times of Jesus and really brings to life the New Testament. Gerald Lund is a phenominal author. I have ready many of his books and have loved everyone of them. I can't wait to read this book again.

I absolutely LOVE these series. I'm now reading them for the 4th time. I love how Lund breaks down the parables and teachings of Christ to make them easier to understand. I also love the historical accuracy. He brings you into the story as if you really are there. I highly recommend these books!

I have loved this series about life at the time of Jesus Christ and his ministry. The entire series flows quickly and helps you build a vivid image of this time in your mind. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This is the final book of the series. It brings to life what the emotions must have been during the time of the crucifiction. This is definately a tear jerker in a good way. You will feel the spirit throughout the whole series but this book just shines

This series is very touching and goes into the life of those who lived in the time of Christ. Although the characters created by the author are fiction, he stays very true to the teachings of Jesus and gives a good perspective to what it might have been like to live during the time of Christ, including the political background and social customs of the era.

We have enjoyed listening to the tapes of Volume One and Volume Two of "The Kingdom and the Crown," and were really glad to find Volume Three "Behold the Man" on tape. Gerald N. Lund has written a well-researched and exciting historical novel centered around the time when Jesus Christ lived on the earth. Larry McKeever reads the book using changes in his voice when the characters are speaking---he really makes the story come alive. My husband and I really like the story in these three volumes.

This book (and this series) is amazing! What a wonderful way to get into the lives and culture of those in the New Testament. I learned things from this series that I could never get from a Bible study class. This really helped me get a feel for the times.
