Awesome Christmas Album,

This review is from: Behold the Lamb of God: 10th Anniversary Edition (MP3 Download)
I've been listening to this CD for over 5 years and I still love it. Went to the live concert once and would consider that, probably, the best concert I've ever been too. We've bought about 30 copies of this CD over the years to give to friends. Andrew Peterson is an amazing musician and songwriter. This music is a great telling of the purpose and story of Christ's coming to the earth. Worship flows from this album. I just can't say enough good about it.Andrew is also a very entertaining author. You should check out his books "On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness" and "North or Be Eaten", the first two installments of the Wingfeather Saga" On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness: Adventure. Peril. Lost Jewels. And the Fearsome Toothy Cows of Skree. (The Wingfeather Saga) North! Or Be Eaten: Wild escapes. A desperate journey. And the ghastly Fangs of Dang. (The Wingfeather Saga)

Andrew Peterson has written and produced an amazing musical work of art for the celebration of Advent. Highly recommend if you enjoy acoustic/folk music and if you value being reminded why Jesus Christ came into the world.

Important Christmas album remastered!,

This review is from: Behold the Lamb of God: 10th Anniversary Edition (MP3 Download)
This has been my favorite Christmas (and Easter) CDs for some time. When I heard that Peterson was releasing a remastered version, I couldn't figure out how he could improve it. Now that I've heard this and the original side-by-side, the remastered version is easily better. You can hear it right off the bat with the percussion enhancement in the first song.People always want to break out different songs on an album as their favorites, but I don't think that works here. This "song cycle" works best as just that: all the songs played in order to tell one cohesive story. If I had to pick one, it would be the last song for its stunningly creative recall of the different pieces, folding them into each other until we're back to the opening song's chorus. Fantastic work from a fantastic artist. A must have for any Christian who takes the story seriously. |
