A great add on to my Movie Equipment, November 10, 2007
This review is from: Behringer 1222 FX 16-Input 2/2 Bus Mixer with Effects and USB (Electronics)
I used this in conjunction with my Canon GL2 Camcorder with the MA300 XLR Microphone adapter. The Behringer Mixer allows me to add a large number of microphones while I am shooting my scene. If you are new to Mixers, as I was,I would suggest picking up the AudioPro Home Recording Course, which is a book that you can get on Amazon. It fills in the blanks, because the documentation that comes with the Mixer is not useful to the new audio producer.
This is a good selection for the Movie Produce on a budget.

A Terrific Mixer At Any Price, September 27, 2008
This review is from: Behringer 1222 FX 16-Input 2/2 Bus Mixer with Effects and USB (Electronics)
The XENYX comes with 100 built-in effects (there's no way to edit them). Some are more useful than others of course, but more effects in my arsenal isn't a bad thing. The chorusing is truly great on vocals and keys, but isn't really geared toward guitars. The pitch shifter is pretty bad, and unfortunately they didn't program a setting for a 5th above, which is probably the most used pitch shifter setting for most people. The surround sound works well on delays in particular. Most of the reverb settings are so-so, but a couple are exceptional. Don't be fooled by any 24-bit hype though. I've got a tiny, cheap, little Alesis first generation 16-bit Microverb from 1987 that sounds much better than the majority of 24-bit reverb units on the market today.
This mixer is dead quiet (as are my other two Behringer mixers), the EQ's are very nice indeed for fixed EQ's, cross-talk in practically inaudible, and the unit is laid out very well so that everything is easy to find and easy to get at. Having XLR main outs is a nice touch as well. The sliders have a good feel to them. The 7-band graphic EQ isn't particularly great for getting rid of feedback live, but it's better than nothing. All in all, you get an awful lot of product for the money.
The only problem I've had is trying to get the USB (UCA200) unit to work that comes with the XENYX mixer. Many people have had problems with this. The Windows USB driver will record sound from the USB unit, but you can't monitor the sound while recording it. Behringer has another ASIO USB driver available for download, but I couldn't get it to work at all. Most of us have simply not used the USB unit and opted to record from the main outs into a regular soundcard line ins like we always did before. Works just as well.

great for home studio, August 18, 2007
This review is from: Behringer 1222 FX 16-Input 2/2 Bus Mixer with Effects and USB (Electronics)
This board is good esp. with built in effects. This is for my home studio so i can edit and record music. Just get a good sound card and you will notice the difference.
