Worth it just for the amp,

Behringer Vintager Electric Guitar Package
You can usually find this product cheaper than the listed [...] price if you look around online. That being said, this kit is great for the price. Sure the guitar isn't the greatest, but the amp alone usually retails for nearly the price you can find this whole kit online. I already owned a guitar and just wanted a real tube amp, so I bought this package since I was essentially getting the guitar and accessories as a freebie. If you go into it with that thinking, you'll be very happy with your purchase. I wouldn't recommend the guitar as a primary instrument, however, unless you are just starting out on guitar. It's a fine beginner type guitar.

My first guitar in 6 years!!,

I got this guitar after stopping from playing 6 years earlier. I originally had a Squire Stratocaster which was destroyed in a house fire. Then i decided to take up guitar again after 6 years. I bought this package for £120, which included the fantastic little amp, the guitar, picks strap and soft case.
The guitar has 3 single coil pickups, with a vintage sound, i get a good beatles sound using the bridge pickup on a clean sound. It has a nice action and didnt really need much set up, although i would change the nut or at least put some pencil graphite in there for now, my whammy bar cross threaded the day i set it up, but ive never found the need to use it, so im not bothered. The finish is nice, although im planning on stripping the paint and changing the colour. The neck is maple, with a maple fretboard and 22 medium frets, excellent quality neck, barring the nut, and the string trees are not sharp, but would be best to be replaced with rollers. The machine heads are not the best but will do the job if you have a tuner, im putting some locking tuners on. Im not a huge fan of the vibrato bridge, but it does the job nicely for the price. Sound is pretty nice but because i now have a epiphone dot (for my vintage sounding stuff) im going to make this my first customisation project, i'll be replacing the pups for a single humbucker and also the electronics, to make this more of a punk guitar, as ive started playing some of that. This is excellent for a beginner and ive been playing for 2 years now, and have a good quality guitar also, i play this one almost every day, and ive also took it to a few jamming sessions, which impressed a few other people when i told them the price. I would say, if youre looking for a cheap guitar, you can do much worse, if youre looking for a Fender Strat, pay for one. Value for money, this is spot on, the amp is worth 70% of the price, and the guitar is also good quality for the price, ive seen much worse sounding and built guitars for twice the price.

The Amp Sounds Horrible,

I had this guitar for two years. I received it as a Christmas Gift, and when I saw the box, I nearly fainted. When I plugged the amplifier into the guitar, I noticed a lot of feedback from the amp. I was wondering if it was the cable, or the amp. Of course, I never had any real experience with an electric guitar. When I was in seventh grade, the only experience I had was with the D chord, the A7 chord and the G chord. But, when I reached ninth grade, I brought it to my Guitar I class. By that time, I had fallen on the guitar twice because of the ice outside, and the guitar is fine. The strap and cord have recently failed. Two picks are lost, one busted. I also had to change the strings after 2 years, because my D string broke. Then, I buy $20 strings, and the D string breaks after one WEEK. Also, the amp sounded too crappy, so I went to Best Buy, and bought a $200 Line 6 Spider IV 15-watt amp. Now, with my new amplifier, I think the guitar sounds much better. All of my classmates in Guitar I are dying to see my new amp (Except for one of them, who is jealous, because he has a Line 6 Spider III). But, if you buy this guitar, make sure you buy a Dunlop Ergo pick holder and a new amp cable. Also, if you want to go the extra mile, buy a new amp if you don't want to sound bad.

You definitely get less than what you pay for...,

Behringer has now created a miniature array of guitars, but to much dismay given the quality in their amplifier products, guitarwise, they have been utterly unsuccessful in producing anything truly commendable. To wit, I've purchased and tested the El Toro, Vintager and Metalien models and all are quite appalling, even for a first time guitar purchase.
First, I'll list the limited Pros of purchasing of the Vintager: *The amp is rather pleasant, with crisp resonance and great tone functionality, which is what I would advocate for Behringer purchases. *Lessened likelihood of neck-warp (unexpected). It seems the maple neck is of good quality. *Low price, though I'm pondering whether or not the consumer is in fact receiving their moneys worth. The Cons: *The plastic nut just falls off if you need to change the strings, which most certainly will because whatever basic strings are included did not merit much play. *Tone controls on the guitar did not function (or did not work on mine exclusively) *Tremolo/Whammy-bar placement is off by ¾ of a centimeter. You perhaps may find this Con amusing, but because of the inaccurate assembly/design, it damages the bridge or, at the very least, throws of the adjustment of the bridge constantly (outside of the fact that using the whammy throws your guitar out of tune as it is). *"three single-coil pickups, five-way switching and vintage vibrato bridge" features as listed in the product description are a joke. The pick-ups themselves give you pitiable note resonation and the only way to apparently improve this problem is to use the top setting of the "five-way switching". The other switch settings just muffle the notes and combined with the tone controls not working leave not much in the way of available options. As for the supposed "vintage vibrato bridge", it needs constant adjusting even without use of the whammy bar and I have yet to figure out why. Poor construction or materials, I suppose. *The other accessories that they threw in (guitar strap, picks, bag etc.) are entirely insignificant, an attempt to perk up the total package and persuade the consumer into thinking they're getting more than what they're paying for. All in all, I personally wouldn't suggest this guitar purchase to anyone apart from the amp which is not worth $150, although it is a good quality starter amplifier. Berhinger is famous for amps and should stick with what they're best at. The Fender Starcaster is even a better starter choice and that is saying a lot. Good luck, Raoul Duke

The Guitar Amplifier combo from Behringer is a very good buy, from the perspective of the Valve amplifier in the Vintager Pack. The Amp sounds great, very loud from a very small amp.Great Tube resonnance and sweet harmonics. The guitar is a little mundane in comparison, yet another strat type copy.If you like Fenders you will like the guitar. I found other guitars sound better with the Amp.The sound was a little thin from the Behringer Vintager guitar. A guitar with twin humbuckers through the Amp is absolutely classic Heavy Metal. From a purchasing perspective overall its worth it just for the Amplifier.

I own this starter set, and its horrible. Its ok if your just getting into guitar and dont plan to play much, but if your going to get better in the next year, this guitar wont be as up to date as you wish it was. Its constantly going out of tune, and strings break easily (lots of $$) The amp is ok, actually pretty nice, but the guitar just isnt worth it. The amp is probable $100, which means your paying for a $50-60 dollar guitar and that is cheap s***. Dont get it if you dont wanna waste your money

My 13 year old son purchased this guitar kit with money that he has been saving for some time. He was very excited when it arrived today. This is his first guitar, and he has no experience with this instrument. After about an hour of playing with it, the "whammy bar" snapped off. I have sent an email to the company, but it doesn't seem as if this is a warranty issue, as it is not a defective part (I don't think it is anyway). My son didn't treat the instrument roughly, and I am sure that he played with it no harder than any other kid might do. It's very disappointing to think that it broke so quickly. That said, perhaps the company will stand behind it. My advice, is to make sure that an adult checks the connection when the whammy bar is attached, and treat it with extreme care. One would think that it would stand up to more than an hours use. As to the rest of the system, we really can't comment, we haven't had time to evaluate before going into repair mode.
