Excellent Headphones and Best Value,

This review is from: Behringer HPX2500 High-definition DJ Headphones (Electronics)
I have never heard of the Berhringer brand until seeing its headphones in an Amazon Lightning Deal yesterday. In picture, the HPX2500 looked pretty good for a pair of twenty-something-dollar headphones. Seeing the actual product and using it for sometime, I deem it an excellent headphone for the money. I'll rate its quality at 8.5 out of 10. The headphone jack and cord use a lot heavier gauge materials then the competition. Berhringer is a maker of studio musical equipment. If you would like to know more about it, just Google it. There is a pretty informative article on it in Wikipedia. There is even YouTube videos about its huge factories in China.
You should be aware that because the HPX2500 is NOT a closed-type headphone, there is little to no sound isolation. In other words, if there is some sound in the environment, you will hear it. Conversely, others will be able to hear what you are listening, albeit at much reduced volume. This is called an open-type headphone. IMO, open-type headphones seem to offer better clarity. On the other hand, closed-type may offer more bass. What you listen to most should be the deciding factor in selecting open or closed headphone design.

Very crisp and comfortable, lacking bass / coiled cord,

I have had these headphones for less than a week. They are very comfortable. High frequencies come through very clear. I noticed them distorting once, a very little bit, while listening to Blue Man Group. BUT it seemed like there was an excessive amount of mid-range frequencies in that section of music. There is very little bass response. If you "LOVE" bass you will likely be disappointed with these. Seemed to handle it fine when I plugged them into my stereo and used the bass boost. To my ears, doing that, really balanced the sound perfectly. As mentioned in other reviews they DO have an open back design so they do not block outside sounds and others can pretty much hear everything you are listening to. One of the main reasons I picked these headphones was the claim in the "Product Features" section that the cord was coiled. IT IS NOT COILED. It is straight, nicely heavy duty, about 6' long and the screw-on 1/4" adapter is very nice.
Overall: well-made, comfortable, and crisp sounding but needs help with lower frequencies. . . and a coiled cord, :(

I won't say these are better than 100$ because they're not i will say they're comfortable it feels like your not wearing headphones at all...i'll say the sound is challenged not great but good enough if your doing something basic with them...but definitely not for advanced listening...i gave it 5 stars because it is worth what you paid for and maybe a little bit of a bargain too...the ad says high definition and it's not really so...i will say you can hear a certain seperation that you can't hear normally but the bass isn't very good and the vocals seem layered in echo but you do get a good dynamic wide range on these things...so like i said it's for basic stuff like wearing them while you record or similar stuff like that but not the ultimate experience.

Has a richer, more full spectrum sound than my Sennheiser $100 headphones,

I've always been a fan of the Sennheiser headphones until I ran across these. Both are somewhat "open air" designs but these have more low end bass and vocals than my favorite Sennheiser set does, which does improve the reproduction quality. The Senn' design is more open air than this due to the metal frame with vent holes in it that Behringer uses.
As for comfort, Sennheiser has a slightly more comfortable cushion made of a felt like materieal, however in noisy environments, the extra attenuation offered by the cushion seal of these Behringer headphones is much appreciated. It may be why I note a better low end reproduction here than the Senn's do simply because they seal off around the ear slightly better. The band is fully adjustable, fits my head perfectly, and is comfortable for long term wear at adobe soundbooth sessions. Another nice feature is they offer both the 1/8 and 1/4 gold plated stereo plugs that screw together thus preventing signal noise from the headphone cable rotating inside the adapter. Once joined, it looks like a 1/4" TRS plug and fits into the 1/4" jacks on my pro audio equipment perfectly. Sorry, Sennheiser, but after a long run of listening something better came along, and at 1/4 the price, it's a great value.

Complete junk!,

I bought these headphones hoping to replace a set of AKGs that I use in my studio. Mistake. They make everything sound like an old AM radio! Absolutely no highs or lows... almost like they're EQ-ed on a bell curve. On a whim, I bought a set of no-name cans at Big Lots & they are FAR superior to the Behringers.
The only positive thing that I can say about these is that they are at least comfortable. Unfortunately, they will not see any use in my studio save for the rare occasion when I do not have enough headphones to go around for everyone who is listening. Behringer makes some decent, affordable stuff (IE mixers, guitar effects, etc), but these headphones are JUNK!

The phones sound better than any others that I have used but they are big. I use them for watching TV as I am bit hard of hearing and they make a huge difference.

I just bought these headphones and they arrived yesterday. They are great. Great sound and great price. If you are looking for headphones that have a good sound and a good fit these are perfect. If you want headphones with more noise cancellation and bass these are not for you. As an aspiring DJ the headphones work great and the swivel of the headphones work great too. 4 Stars!

These headphone sound good specially at that price. They don't sound as great as the expensive brands but trust me they're excellent to get the job done.

These are the most comfortable set of earphones I have ever had.
Really crisp clear on CD's. I also use them on a Clavinova keyboard, and they really have a great piano sound. For practice they are exceptional.
