4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent value, VERY versatile, September 29, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Behringer LX1B Bass/Acoustic-Electric Guitar and Keyboard Amplifier (Electronics)
Bottom line up front:
Pros- Great value, very versatile, good for any skill level (easy to use out of the box but offers plenty of additional enhancement for advanced users)
Cons- Lots of plastic, slight delay switching between effects

The meat and potatoes:
I've been playing guitar for about 8 years now and have had several different effects pedals. Two years ago I decided I wanted a multi-pedal and took a shot at this one. I'm a believer that the primary cause of a good-sounding guitar is a good guitar player... but this pedal sure helps! With a little tweaking, you can effectively make ANY sound you need. The included pedal allows you to switch between 5 custom effects slots. There are 5 slots per bank and over 20 banks so storage space isn't a problem. It will continue to store your settings whether it's plugged in or not (even for very long periods of time). The instructions are very good, too, so you should be able to pick up the operation fairly quickly. I've used it primarily for my 6-string electric but it also serves as a surprisingly good pre-amp for my bass. I've used it for several hours like this without it overheating or getting otherwise damaged

There are two major drawbacks to this pedal. One: it's made of flimsy plastic. In the two years I've owned it, one knob has broken off, one knob doesn't function properly, and there's something plastic banging around inside. Two: There's a 1.5-2 second delay (no sound at all during delay) switching from one effect to the next so don't plan on instant sound changes while performing. This shouldn't be a big deal for most. *See update below

I had an opportunity to try the PRO version. Only difference is that the PRO is metal and designed for a rack. If you'll only ever use it for recording, get the PRO. Otherwise, stick with this one for traveling convenience.

*UPDATE: You can get a MIDI foot pedal to go with this. The foot pedal almost totally eliminates the delay so I'd highly recommend it for performers
