Nice, inexpensive powered monitors.,

These powered monitors fit my needs perfectly. I use these on my PC as well as with my Behringer V-Amp Pro. Despite their small size, the output level of these is quite surprising. The sound output is neutral and well balanced, these are an absolute steal in this price range.

I have a pretty good hearing range, so most computer speakers sound flat and lifeless to me, or they try to compensate with phony sounding "stereo expansion" techniques that really just mask the flaws with more bass and some treble boost. I bougtht these to do close-quarters video editing at my PC workstation, and they have exceeded my expectations. There are different inputs, which is nice, and although they are a little large, the sound quality is definately worth it - it provides accurate, true to the source reproduction of your audio tracks, which lets face it, is what a speaker is supposed to do.

Great audio quality for the price and size. Love the SPDIF digital inputs since my tv has the same connection.

Purchased because of optical input. Sound good for the price, and volume adequate for small spaces.
Cones not protected, so handle carefully, if at all, and need original package to transport safely. Would have served for casual DJ use with my laptop were they not so fragile. With a protective front, I would have given them top rating. As is, the Logitech Z-2300 with a couple of old Realistic Minimus 7s, though a bit bulkier and without optical input, is much better.

for the last 10 years I have used a mini stereo as my computer speakers, had the analog go into the JVC CD player/receiver, and the 10 watt speakers worked perfectly, I just liked the sound better than cheap computer speakers and didn't want a 5.1 setup. After I built my last computer I noticed a buzzing coming from the speakers which was really annoying (and this happened when no cell phones were around it). I read that an optical connection should eliminate this problem. So I starting looking for a pair of speakers with optical in, but the trick was that I didn't want a 5.1 system, just wanted 2 speakers which for me is great for games and casual music listening.
I found these speakers which seemed to be just what I needed, the price was a little steep for computer speakers but since I also wanted quality I had to except it. Hooked them up last night, no more buzzing, the sound is GREAT, I couldn't believe how clear and crisp it was and it had decent base too. I was a little dissapointed there was no subwoofer out since I do have a mini sub in that room, but don't really need it. I cranked it up to see how much space it would fill and I could hear it perfectly clear in both bedrooms on the same level without maxing the volume. These speakers are a little big, bigger than my mini stereo JVC speakers but they aren't too bad, right speaker is sort of heavy as that has the amp in it, left is pretty light. I would recommend these for anyone wanting computer speakers with optical in and don't need full surround sound for their games, no better option out there.

Loud, Bass Booming, Treble Baking, The Speakers Are Worth The Money.
Even when it sounds low to me in my room my mom screams at me because she can hear them. The bass is awesome, likewise on the treble. I'm glad I have these, their a big help!

I bought these speakers to replace a set of Altec Lansing computer speakers I'd had for several years - when the Altecs stopped working, I wanted to try speakers with a digital optical input (TOSLINK). These came to the top of the list because of the input, the reasonable price, and the positive reviews. I am surprised by how good they sound (and a little surprised by their size and solidity). Before, I used my Tivoli Model Two with an iPod dock for music while I was working on the computer - but these Behringers sound a lot better than the Model Two.
If space is not an issue and you want to spend about $100 on a pair of computer speakers, these are a great choice.

Perfect, with one caveat,

These speakers are exactly what I wanted - digital input, solid, balanced sound, fairly small. There are two volume knobs - one for the digital source, one for analog. I'm not using analog right now, but it is nice that it mixes the two.
The only caveat about these speakers, which is a theory of mine not supported by any information from the manufacturer (but it makes sense to me)... is that these are 'stereo' speakers, and I believe they are playing only the front right and front left channels from a 5.1 digital source. When I listen to a source I know is stereo, they are normally loud and sound good. When I listen to a source I know is 5.1 (like a DVD), the sound is much lower, and voices are even lower than ambient sounds. Which I think makes sense as voices are often mixed to the center channel in a 5.1 mix.

NO BETTER SPEAKERS FOR THE MONEY,
By
This review is from: Digital Monitor Speakers (Electronics)
I have had the speakers for several weeks now and I am total satisfied with the sound. I just have them hooked up to the 1/8 jack on the sound card and they sound better than any creative labs and moonsoons that I had previously. I thought about upgrading my sound card to use the optical imput, but they sound great the way they are. The treble and bass eq. comes in handy as well. I did a lot of research before my purchase, and know I got the best product available for the money
