Very dissapointed, thought it was a regular book but it's mostly a small children's book.

This review is from: Being Caribou: Five Months on Foot with a Caribou Herd (Hardcover)
This is a beautiful book and a work of devotion to our natural world. This couple lived among the migrating caribou in Alaska for 5 months, camping along the way, observing and learning about the creatures. It's touching, beautiful, moving, and illuminating. Since very few of us will ever even see a caribou, this is as close as it gets to understanding these amazing and beautiful animals and how fragile and precious is their wild environment. The last thing we need to do is interrupt their migratory routes with oil pipelines, drilling, etc. Let us be good stewards of the Earth and her creatures. Children especially need to see this book and have a compassionate adult guide them through its implications. I would love to see it in all our schools. Instead, children are less and less likely to interact with the natural world nowadays, and that is to the detriment of all of us. Share this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource, March 31, 2010
This review is from: Being Caribou: Five Months on Foot with a Caribou Herd (Hardcover)
As the description states, this is an "adaptation of an adult title by the same name." It's intended for "ages 9-12," and is "48 pages long." It's also a fantastic children's book with amazing pictures and lots of interesting information about caribou. I would recommend it for elementary or middle school kids who are interested in life science, caribou, or the Arctic.
